First real plane trip... surprise TFR

Cat, the ring came up on the iPad (ForeFlight) as well... and when I came close to the line, both systems lit up “Entering TFR”... so in actuality, the Dynon and ForeFlight should have denoted a distance warning to the actual TFR ???... thank you for the clarification.

First real plane trip... surprise TFR

It is actually a very cool little airport. There is no Com, so keep your eyes pealed, no FBO, no fuel and several tie downs. There is no real downwind or base... on the prevailing wind runway approach (23) you enter this little valley and as you drift lower and lower you can see people eating...

First real plane trip... surprise TFR

Yes, the Dynon shows pending ones... in fact, on my trip home from Virginia this morning, there were a couple of Orange (upcoming) TFR's on the way (in New Jersey) that will be active on July 5th. When active, they turn Red. The same surprise TFR that I encountered yesterday showed up again...

First real plane trip... surprise TFR

This TFR area was “Yuge”... seriously it wasn’t a small zone, it extended way out from DC to Hagerstown. Thx All

First real plane trip... surprise TFR

Took off early this morning from CT (KSNC) to Sky Bryce VA (VG 18) — 332 miles, stayed to the right of the big Class B,s (LGA, JFK, Newark, Philly) and flew over the C,s... a blast. And intentionally stayed clear of the ever present Wash DC TFR. While aloft, a huge red dot appeared on the...

    Dynon, iPad and Foreflight...

When it connects, it is connected the entire trip. Another weird item...when the iPad asks for a password, and I enter the same password as is revealed in the Dynon... the password is "rejected"... you may be correct, it could be a hardware issue... I have 3 Dynon screens, and therefore 3...

    Dynon, iPad and Foreflight...

Noted the Dynon forum is still down... bummer. I was wondering if someone can assist please. So, a couple of months ago I invested in an iPad and Foreflight... I managed to get the computer to pair with my Dynon Panel. I would work on my flight plan the eve before the flight, get to the plane...

    Oshkosh or bust...trip planning

I can tough anything out... except two things... I need/want strong coffee in the AM and strong beer... basically the stronger the better...like chewable... I am shopping/ reviewing a portable coffee (espresso) maker and after I perform the weight and balance I will see if I have room for the...

    Oshkosh or bust...trip planning

George, are you saying that I don't just follow the Majenta line?..; ) I am gathering that the Plan B and Plan C are developed in the plane and in the motel waiting for the rain to stop... To your point, I pulled up the OSH plan last eve in Foreflight and there were 3 separate WX events along...

Stick and Rudder nearly killed me and my CFI (long)

Just returned from my first night flight in the plane. Brought my CFI along to check me out... he laughs at my logbook as it too is "Logbook #1" ... earned my PPL in 1978... dropped out in 1982 and re-earned in 2018... a mere 36 years break...; ) Here is to all of us Rusties. PS: How cool is...

Texas Aircraft Colt LSA unveiling, tour and review - video

I recently purchased an LSA... $150k is probably correct if the Rotax is carbureted, the Dynon is single screen, and no chute.

How do you forget to lower the gear?

When I was 17 years old, back in 1977, I worked at a hangar at Plymouth Airport (PYM)... I arrived early, about 7 AM. I opened the hangar door, it was hot out... time to sweep the hangar floor. In those days I effectively traded labor for flight instruction... that's another story... I saw a...

    Oshkosh or bust...trip planning

Trip planning underway... stupid question #1: So, if I want to park the plane overnight at a non-towered airport on the way to OSH, do I or should I call the FBO ahead and plan for a space to park? Prefer a hangar overnight... or, do I just get there and if the FBO Manager is there, work it...
