How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

That's a limited route ODP. All runways at the airport have ODPs. Some are diverse.

How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

You probably cross it closer taking off at LRP than at 7,000 feet using actual VOR navigation.

How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

I was hoping you would share, or point me to an official FAA publication.

How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

So, how would I know to do that absent knowledge of local folklore?

How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

I would never circle back anywhere in the system absent a very specific ATC instruction.

How to handle a Terminal VOR in a Clearance?

Why? Runway 13 has an ODP. It is diverse.

Age When You Passed Inst. Check Ride

I believe they read it over the hotline. This is circa 1960. Later on the FAA permitted charted IFR departure procedures at a few airports that didn't have IAPs. That was discontinued a long time ago.

What name do you call clearance delivery?

"Airplane to Airport, request landing clearance." "Airport to airplane, you are cleared to land."

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

Definitely done for some airspace reason.

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

    OBS to the FAF.

    Why is LNAV+V advisory only?

There aren't any final segment step-down fixes on that N23 Runway 07 approach. It's the high HAT of the MDA that should be a major clue to the wary.

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

RNAV IAPs with course changes of up to 15 degrees aren't common, but not rare either. Most of them are in areas of significant terrain. As to your example, I can see a controller vectoring either to the intermediate segment (blue line) or to an extension of the final approach course (green...

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

RNAV makes the system generally more accurate and certainly much more flexible and versatile. But, take a device such as the G-1000 with all the knob twisting, it's a continuing process, not just set up. Before RNAV, flying the typical VOR IAP required, little if any knob turning once set up...

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

Single pilot with a decent auto-pilot seems more important than in the days of VOR, Victor Airways and VOR/ILS/LOC IAPs.

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

Must be a Garmin FMS feature. The G-5000 is certified under Part 25. The edit function prevents the possibility of loading the wrong IAP when attempting to reload an IAP.

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

I believe that would be more key strokes.

Ever a reason to activate VTF??

My Garmin flying is relegated to the G-5000 trainer. As Garmin goes, this trainer is old technology. But, if I activated VTF (which I never would, but just saying...) if I need to reload the full approach after having selected VTF, it's just >flight plan >edit flight plan, then select the...
