Lost GPS While on RNAV Approach in IMC

It's not a toy except when used as primary for IFR navigation.

Lost GPS While on RNAV Approach in IMC

    It's not worth an argument.

Lost GPS While on RNAV Approach in IMC

FF as an app is not a toy. The GPS in an iPad IS a toy. It's a fact. Not my opinion. Read the RTCA docs if you like. EDIT: FF as a flight planning and performance tool is not a toy. As a navigator it IS a toy.

Lost GPS While on RNAV Approach in IMC

You apparently don't understand integrity and continuity, as it applies to IFR avionics. (and doesn't apply to consumer GPS gadgets.)

Lost GPS While on RNAV Approach in IMC

I wouldn't characterize it as "forgiving." The GPS "toy" is clueless about integrity requirements for IFR-certified devices.

    Prescott 3 departure

If you are not for hire you can do whatever it takes so long as you aren't assigned the Winski 2. For hire, you have to fly one of the departures or a company procedure.

    Prescott 3 departure

You could also request a VFR climb and deviate as necessary.

    Prescott 3 departure

If a pilot on a IFR flight plan can make good the ODP climb gradient, the VCOA should be avoided. VCOAs are a great concept for poorly performing airplanes, but only at airports where the pilot has local knowledge.

    Nope.

    Procedure Turn Question

The obstacle that affects the PT entry zone would affect the entire HILPT, so minimum holding altitude of 14,100. The PT works a lot better.

Not many of those remaining: On-airport NDB no-FAF (the sensor FAF notwithstanding).

    Yes, indeed.

    Procedure Turn Question

The mountains in this area are significant. I fly the PT as depicted on the Jeppesen chart. My technique would be to not leave 14,100 until turning outbound heading 322 degrees.

    Procedure Turn Question

I didn't say on the outbound course. I said, "outbound."

Over-applying the TRIPS 8260.2 without subsequent QC.

    Procedure Turn Question

I think it is you stating, "Of course. Like any route with a minimum altitude.' The procedure turn is not a route. If the entry and maneuvering are the same altitude, then you can begin descent as soon as QUIRT is passed; i.e., at the start of the outbound turn. In this case, though, 14,100...

    Procedure Turn Question

My question is about the underlined 14,100. That means the procedure turn entry zone has a floor of 14,100. You cannot descend below 14,100 until not only past QUIRT, but proceeding outbound. (AIM 5-4-9 a. 2.)
