Not necessarily. Case in point, I flew 2.4 yesterday that was not picked up by FlightAware. With 978 ADSB out, I’m rarely if ever tracked here in ND unless I pick up VFR FF or obviously file IFR. Not a lot of 978 receivers here transmitting data to FA or FR24.

Looking at going to Red Lodge in February with the wife. It’s about a 6-7 hour drive or 2-3 hour flight. Has anyone ever flown there and can give a PIREP about rental cars, hangar etc? Yes I realize it’s Montana in the winter, so driving might be the only option, but I figured it’s worth a shot...

Hopefully getting one next month while visiting Oregon if their schedule and my schedule align

I’ve flown the next valley west in a Beech Skipper, which is known to be underpowered. Had no issues at all through Monica Pass which is just slightly higher than Raynolds Pass. Beautiful area for sure

It’s been mentioned before, but I’d recommend KRAP over KCUT just for rental car availability if nothing else. Fly over the area and maybe even check out 3V0 (Custer State Park, no services), but then park at KRAP if you want to explore the area.

I live in ND and always have service up to at least 6-7000. Sometimes higher. I cruised to MN once at 9500 and service was spotty, but usable enough.

If it’s like any other big city, I’m sure the Uber/Lyft price delta will be enough to justify landing at the closer airport even if fees are higher. Also, are you just doing it on your own or through Angel Flight? Because I wanna say some places waive fees for those.

Let me know if you need company :D I wouldn’t do Lead unless Deadwood is also on your radar since they’re right next door. Yes there is a large hole in the ground with a very small mining visitor center, but overall not worth the visit by itself. Deadwood can be fun if gambling is your thing...

It’s a Skipper quirk. I’ve seen the same in both I’ve flown. Made me wonder what would happen if one tank runs dry if it’ll start sucking more from the other…

Like somebody else said above, Friday was equally bad. Then on Saturday after the night show, the camping bus line was stretching far in past the gate. I chose to walk the mile back to our camp site and didn't see a single bus pass me.

Those are much nicer than the shower facilities at Scholler (which were fine, so I'm not complaining)
