    Helicopter CFI eastern South Dakota?

Morris Riggin in Madison, SD. He doesn't advertise helicopter training, but he does have a CFI-H. Looks like you'd have to go to Minnesota or North Dakota for a checkride though. http://www.rigginflightservice.com/

PPL student - unclear training 'flight plan'

If you want something simple and easy to follow, I use this one loosely with my students. I make it clear that it's a general roadmap, but that we can and will stray from it if another lesson would be better for a certain day...

District employee using school plane for vacation

Haha I wish. But no, just pointing out that some school districts own planes for the students’ benefits.

District employee using school plane for vacation

Our school district owns a 150 and students picking Aviation career classes are eligible to fly it. I instruct in it and it’s a great deal. The students only pay their own gas to the FBO and my CFI rate. Won’t get cheaper training than that locally.

    Cirrus Vision Jet KMQJ

I'd say engine coming off = bad for Cirrus. Chute working as advertised = good for Cirrus.

Can you fly with more than one CFI?

As a CFI I encourage it. I almost "require it", if nothing else, as a quasi stage check. Another CFI might see habits I might not notice since I fly with them all the time.

    Two crew logging question

Not sure how many times you're going to quote my post, but I am not claiming one thing is better or worse. I am simply providing a data point that makes a difference should an individual choose to apply for certain major airlines who have it on their applications to not count sole manipulator...

    Combined checkride CPL/CFI

Is it possible? Maybe. Sounds like a hellish day though, combining CFI with anything

    Two crew logging question

That being said. If his/her goal is the airlines, most of them do not want "sole manipulator PIC" listed on their applications. They specifically use the definition of who signed for the aircraft.

Independent cfi's: who do you have schedule the checkride?

I'm not sure you have enough ratings. I think you need to add more :D

CPL stuff: Private, Non-common, common carriage ... oof

The graph above pretty much covers it. You can advertise yourself all you want, as long as you don't also provide an aircraft. Anyone can hire you to fly their aircraft and you'll be fine. Once you provide both yourself and the aircraft, it becomes holding out and you need a 135.

PPL finish up in a quiet airport in the winter

Go to Riggin Flight Service in Madison, SD (KMDS). Not only will they finish up your private, but if you do it in their Cessna 140, you also get a tailwheel endorsement out of the deal. Instructors and DPE on staff. I have no connection to them other than I did my IFR finish up there. Similar...

    Getting a passenger to DFW

Just go DFW. For no other reason than, well, it's DFW and that's your destination. And there are more planes there in an hour than our whole state in a day :)

    182T rental price

Let's not forget about the Frenchie Cessnas made by Reims, for example the F172 (not to be confused with the 172F of course)

    182T rental price

Correct recollection You can still do all the same approaches, but only to LNAV minimums instead of all the way down to LPV minimums (and no vertical guidance so you need to use step down fixes) Correct

Why is the CAP so understaffed?

We are a pretty good wing though :) That river floods pretty much every year and this spring our crews did a few photo missions along the river between GFK and FAR

Why is the CAP so understaffed?

Sounds like a terrible system and why CAP traditionally has a bad rep many places. In my wing, as a MP and MS/MO skills evaluator, I can take someone up whenever I feel like it to sign them off. Sounds like a lot of people with “too much power” Do you have a plane at the squadron? What is the...

Why is the CAP so understaffed?

MO isn't a prerequisite for MP, just MS. Unless your squadron is making their own rules... Again, MP is not a prerequisite for O-rides, just 200PIC and a CAPF70-5 with the O-ride endorsement (and the Axis test). If they claim it is, they're making their own rules.
