    Need a new iPad

Or discontinuing the Mini. They didn’t lower the price of the iPad Pro 10.5” when they introduced the 11”. If Apple was going to introduce a new Mini in the immediate future they reall F-ed up missing Christmas. I very much hope I’m wrong.

    Need a new iPad

How does ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot look on the new, longer 4.3:3 aspect ratio of the iPad Pro 11? I saw the Pro 11 in the store today, don't know why they didn't have ForeFlight loaded on one of the Apple Store floor models.~

    Need a new iPad

I'm sure you were being facetious, but I considered getting a iPhone XS Max for just this purpose, but I can't read approach plates on it. (Yes, the G3X Touch has approach plates, but the EFIS can be used for better things.) iPhone XS Max: 102.9 sq. cm (I don't know if they subtract the notch)...

    Need a new iPad

Manufacturer now recommends leaving pin in parachute handle, it's more dangerous to have rocket go off by mistake. Red flag has been replaced since photo was taken.

    Need a new iPad

I was unclear about the (admittedly arcane) distinction: -The new 11" iPad Pro, as you say, is the same size as the older 10.5" iPad Pro, but with a larger screen. -The new 12.9" iPad Pro has shrunk the size of the iPad, while keeping the same size screen as the previous 12.9" iPad Pro. I hope...

    Need a new iPad

I agree, but selfishly I hope they do it like the new 12.9" which retains the same screen size, but the device itself is smaller. The mini is large enough if you can mount it close to you.

Light Sport Aircraft that are IFR

Why do you think this is a trick question? It's safe and legal as far as I know, just wanted to know if other pilots were doing it before I switched my plane from SLSA to ELSA.

Light Sport Aircraft that are IFR

A year+ old thread, I know, but have any of you moved your SLSA to ELSA and are now flying it in (light) IMC? My SLSA qualifies for IFR under 91.205 and the operating limitations don't preclude IMC or IFR, but my POH prohibits IMC. I was able to fly IFR in the system enough to get my IFR...

Why do people argue glass vs steam?

What company? I like to know which avionics companies treat their customers right. I've had great customer service from Bose, MGL, and the Garmin G3X team.

LSA weight limit to be increased to 3600 lb!

Agreed. Especially with the ELSA NPRM that came out last week.

LSA weight limit to be increased to 3600 lb!

I fly a Sling 2, S-LSA from LA-NY a couple/few times a year. Usually takes two days, but last time I did it in one, with 2 fuel stops (and a good tail wind.) I'm considering selling it but that's because I want a plane I can fly in IMC if needed. I trained for and received an Instrument Rating...

KVNY Air / Car Show & Fly-in: This weekend!

Bob, The poster says, Sept 14-16. I'm supposed to pick up friend at the Prop Park tomorrow, Friday 9/14, at 5pm, will this fly-in preclude taxiing my plane there? Also, When are Rod and Barry speaking? thanks, -Craig

    Memphis and Nashville

+1 for Dewitt Spain in Memphis. Extremely helpful people at FBO, close to downtown.

    Psychology of fuel management

What psychology? Fill up every time you land and never fly close to the reserve ring. Double check with fuel gauges and common sense. I guess you could be more efficient carrying less fuel, but how economical is crashing a plane over fuel starvation? (One idea I took away from a Barry Schiff...

How long did it take to get your PPL?

271 hrs. 10 years. 2014 Sounds a little slow, but I flew only twice in the first six years. In the remaining years I got Sport Pilot, Tailwheel, EMT, ACRO, and flew coast to coast a couple times.

I need tie downs for OSH

Two pix I took from the Sun n Fun Tornado. If you look closely, you can see one of the auger-type tie downs hanging from the yellow float plane and one of the Claws being dragged by the blue plane. The Flyties did the best job but it may have been luck or the kind of soil (sandy) at Lakeland.

Tips for planning a "long" VFR-only XC

If you do go to New York, the Hudson River Exclusion is a flight not to be missed. Two things: 1) You must take and pass the online course: https://www.faasafety.gov/gslac/ALC/course_content.aspx?cID=79&sID=389&preview=true...

    Foreflight 10.1 Released...

+1. I've made a similar suggestion every year at OSH, but it's not a sexy feature, just useful. I wonder if we started a email writing campaign would we have more luck?

Tire kicker or serious buyers only

What difference does is make? If you're a good salesman you could convert the tire kickers. I don't mind answering a few questions when I'm selling a plane, lets you know what you forgot to put in the ad.

    Marriage Checklist for Pilots

My fiancé sent me a list of “13 Questions to Ask Before Getting Married.” It’s a standard list: Children, Exes, Religion, Debt, Expenses, etc. to head off any gotchas before it’s difficult to turn back. I said I’d read over and discuss but I that didn’t see any aviation questions. Her reply was...
