    Can a Skycatcher be a good time-builder?

A Light Sport is excellent for time building and earning all your single engine ratings. Not sure a C162 is one of the better LSA's though, have a look at some of the others.

Salty, Thanks for the insight. As I recall IFR training, sporadic ain't going to cut it. :)

Let us know your experience going back to Garmin Pilot. I used it when it first came out because it could flight transfer to G3X/GTN when ForeFlight couldn't. When FF gained this function I went back since I knew the program far better and GP wasn't yet up to parity, though it looks like it has...

Yes, tried it in the plane today, the first time the button wasn’t there. You're correct, it only shows up when there's a Bluetooth connection, thought it had failed until I found button in the new place.

Mike, Different Button, I'm talking about sending Flight Plans via Bluetooth to your G3X or GTN in the plane. The button looks like this: (This is where it used to be, from the ForeFlight Tutorial Video.)

    ForeFlight 12.4 available for download.

Heads Up: the Flight Plan Transfer button on the ForeFlight Maps page is no longer on the top menu. You can still send a flight plan from ForeFlight to your plane's EFIS or Navigator, but you must first open the FPL drawer and find the button on the bottom row. Not a huge deal, but if you don't...

Thanks Mike. (edit) Bizarrely, book appears to be on Apple Books, but not on Kindle.

Is that a good book, Michael, "The Flight Instructor's Survival Guide?" Been reading/viewing a wealth of CFI material, but didn't know that one. -Craig

    Controllability vs Maneuverability?

The concepts are well defined in the PHAK glossary, I agree. Is there a plane which is Controllable but not Maneuverable? I'm trying to think of an illustrative example to teach a primary student. Perhaps there isn't one.

    Controllability vs Maneuverability?

Maneuverability (or Controllability) vs. Stability is easy, an F-16 vs. a Cessna, and the reasons for the difference is also elementary; Maneuverable Dogfighting vs. Stable Training. What my student and I are looking for is an example of Maneuverability vs. Controllability if anyone can help.

    Controllability vs Maneuverability?

Can anyone think of a plane that is controllable, but not maneuverable, and vice versa? Also, my practice CFI student wants to know what purpose this distinction serves, is it just pedantic? I didn't (yet) have a good explanation. Thanks (on this old thread) for the help. -C

Simulated instrument time in non ifr plane

I did some instrument practice hours with safety pilots, but only after working with CFII and being comfortable flying all the approaches I ended up using on checkride. Considered safety pilot time practicing and polishing technique, don't think safety pilot flying would be of much use before...

COVID Picnics - Western Area Suggestions?

Where did you buy/eat at Santa Ynez? Was SY Kitchen open? Suggestion: If you walk 1/2 mile into town from Santa Paula (SZP) Rabalais Bistro is open for takeout (different operating hours so check/call before you go,) there are picnic tables at the airport.

How much will airplane prices drop in 2020?

A Flight Academy here in Southern California uses LSA's to make ATP's, except they use Tecnam Twins for multi-engine. With those planes and full-motion simulators the students are getting a solid education in modern systems and avionics for a little less money. The students and Flight...

    Flying a puppy home

Rescue Dogs (and cats) have been easy fliers in my experience, usually go to sleep. Only time they were a bit nervous was when I left them 2 minutes before I strapped in. You'll have your son with you so they'll never be alone.
