New Commercial ACS... complex plane not required?

Yes. But still... only 10 required for both rides combined is required. Granted I'm sure most people will take more training, but how much fundamental skill is gained in just 10 hours? Especially if your 10 hours is not only in a brand new class (MEL) but also the highest performance thing...

New Commercial ACS... complex plane not required?

Yep. Especially on twins with fresh MEIs in the right seat who will have very little retract experience and only one checkride using the multi under their belt with a retract.

New Commercial ACS... complex plane not required?

Still need 10 hours of complex, though you can do it for just the XC stuff now and 100% with a CFI so no true proficiency needed in a complex. I am very interested to see the effect of this on my CMEL add-on students who did the minimum for complex time-building. I think they may get their...

    Cost of Written Exams?

Yes, CATs is much more modern and it runs a lot cleaner too. If the proctor station goes down for whatever reason the applicant is not effected as everything can be done on the testing computers. With PSI/Lasergrade all exams were 100% dependent on the proctor station for loading and results...

If it's broken may as well upgrade - A 310R upgrade story

I would consider it except they are backordered until May, and I need to get this girl to work to pay for all this!

    Cost of Written Exams?

It is a very good thing as an applicant that all sites are being transitioned into CATs. The software is much more logical and it doesn't look like you're about to boot up Oregon Trail.

If it's broken may as well upgrade - A 310R upgrade story

We are so excited to have accurate information finally on what's going on, especially in the training environment where they are put under more abuse than normal. Noooooooo just stop! It's hard enough sinking $35k into an airplane worth $120k. We are planning on G5's when/if the vacuum...

If it's broken may as well upgrade - A 310R upgrade story

Wiring inside should be completed today (no pics because there was actually a guy in it when I was there), the avionics themselves should be installed by early to middle of next week. The all that's left is the engine monitor (which will be mounted and the wires ran) will get hooked...

Light twin losing an engine at high den. Alt?

Without runway left you're already gear up. I'd leave it up and keep the airplane clean. #1 rule fly the airplane to the scene of the crash.. this is especially true in light twins. Don't let trying limp it along (when obviously it won't limp along) override with the need to keep the airplane...

    Advice: 170 hours, 4 years, 2 practical test failures=frustrated

I'm happy to show anyone my insurance policy. That being said just because my insurance company allows it does not mean I allow it, IE non-employee CFIs instructing in my airplanes.

    Airplane crunched in South Dakota

Oh he is. He did not have a stellar 709 either, but eventually did pass. He's still instructing.... for now.

Lol. Guy in the right seat just had a 709 ride a couple months ago for another incident.

    "KRAP"py POA Fly-In - May 11-13 2018

I do all my stuff at Westjet. It's technically the only FBO as Rapid Fuel is self service fueling only and no people or other services. The fuel/parking is more expensive but they can make rental cars, hotels, have hangar available etc.

Nah. The only parts doubled are the expensive ones. ;) I think you're right. I just know there are two versions. Both of mine that have died have been 28v. Hopefully now that they're both rebuilt and living happy lives they will stay operational.
