    Hangar space - in demand…

maybe my math is wrong but that’s like $9sq/ft? I get the airport wouldn’t pay ground lease or property tax but there’s no way you can build anything today for that. I think 40 T hangars would be upwards of $2m, without a sprinkler system. Part of the problem is city hangars are often stuck...

    Hangar space - in demand…

Can you use a dry system as the secondary or is that a higher cost than the holding tank? It's honestly ridiculous. Who knew the fire marshal would be the one encouraging or prohibiting development? I get it in high density spaces, but I don't understand commercial, metal buildings that pose...

    Hangar space - in demand…

It depends on the airport and the requirements that the fire department wants to impose. Requiring two types of sprinkler systems for example would be super cost prohibitive. The other issue is airports and their lease terms and requirements. If the airport is only willing to give a 10-15 year...

Poll: How should I accomplish my BFR?

My vote is bring your airplane south and let the previous owners do the flight review in it. I am not biased, though.

    Hangar space - in demand…

if it was that simple to build a hangar in the phoenix area there would be more building. There is a reason IWA is the only place with a lot of development right now.

Airlines making rentals virtually free for pilot training?

No way. I am far less exhausted after a day flying a jet (single pilot, mind you) than even a turboprop must less a piston single. Slugging around in the bumps and the heat/cold is not fun or refreshing for 8 hours a day. It's amazing how just the vibrations add to the fatigue. Also I suspect...

    Minneapolis airports

It would have been Lynx then, but it's Atlantic now. As Lynx they have always treated us well. I haven't been to ANE since they changed the signage, but I haven't heard any complaints from our coworkers and we're there every 5-10 days. Good area, easy to get Ubers (or they can get you a rental...

    Scheduling knowledge exam (psi)

If you're considering becoming a testing site I would strongly recommend you ask other sites their experiences. I have been one since around 2017 and with each update or acquisition it gets worse. If I wasn't the only facility within 200 miles I'd close it. I wrote a much longer paragraph but...

    How Long After Processing Certificate?

I didn't receive my certificate, nor did the registry update, for a checkride on 2/21. I got another certificate (SOE removal) on 4/6 and that has been processed and is updated in the registry. I noticed the change on 5/13, but I don't check daily. I'm on a trip so I'm not sure if the plastic is...

ATP add on rating - lost like last year's Easter eggs...

The frustrating part is the CTP course is a waste of time if you've flown significant IFR or a turboprop or jet. I did it in December before I added a type rating in January. I was in class with 9 other people I think... 3 of us were corporate, the other 6 were airline. A big chunk of the class...

PC 12 Down off of NC Coast

What was the temperature on the ground? I have a very good friend that departed in rain one day and at altitude (after picking up some ice) the elevator froze he could only fly with trim. When he descended again into warmer air it freed itself. It's something I think about now anytime I depart...

PC 12 Down off of NC Coast

Owner operators. It's a ridiculously easy airplane to fly but as @DavidWhite said things can go to hell pretty quickly if left unattended. It's a "slow" airplane but you can still get behind it. It's an NG. It would have had the full Honeywell suite. The avionics just aren't on yet.

    Unexpected Ramp Fees

I'll be honest I didn't read beyond page one of this thread. But to answer this question yes ForeFlight does have them listed but they get their data from the AOPA FBO listing. If it's incorrect on there it will be incorrect on ForeFlight. The FBO cannot submit fees to ForeFlight but they can...

Someone tell Foreflight to make this sort of map available from their logbook. Please Foreflight, pretty please?

    Mid-air collision. Chandler, AZ

They do, I've been up there. But since they're not a radar facility they don't use the radar for separation or in lieu of having aircraft in sight. It's more of a situational awareness tool, like ADSB is to us flying VFR. I am just gutted for the controllers. Those guys (and girl) are fantastic...

Worth pushing forward with training as a young woman?

Unfortunately, airlines are looking for diversity and especially with United's new very public goal... we may see under qualified women fill seats that men should have occupied because of their skills/qualifications. IMO it's a step backwards, but that's for another thread (that I've posted in...

Worth pushing forward with training as a young woman?

What doesn’t work that way? It works if you’re willing to be an equal.

Worth pushing forward with training as a young woman?

I'm a successful corporate pilot and business owner. I happen to be a female. I could go into a huge rant about my opinions but I will just say that I prefer to be treated as an equal, a pilot, not a "female pilot". If you have specific questions you can PM me. This is a great career if you are...
