    Bacon supposedly bad....

I cure my own bacon and find the process to be most satisfying. I buy the bellies at Costco and they're usually under $3.00/lb. https://amazingribs.com/tested-recipes/pork-recipes/how-make-smoked-bacon-home

    MU-2 - One Year Report

This is good stuff. We’re going to have to define the terms of the challenge in a way that is equatable and equitable. I think a 500 mile round trip on the same time/day, with the same payload would suffice? I'm not certain that for equal speed I'm going to burn any more fuel than you've...

    Calling all Prime Rib chefs...

I sous vide mine for 4 - 6 hours at 118* - 120*, crust it and finish it in the oven at 500* for 10-15 minutes.

    Coffee

I use a Miele built in machine and lately have been into Valhalla coffees. That machine does a really nice brew, has a wide range of adjustability on temps, grind, etc, is relatively easy to take care of, and the Miele brand is quality stuff IMO. That machine has been going for nearly 10 years...

    100 hour wonders.... amazing

I felt really proud as a 150 hr IR rated pilot, and as I used my saratoga to travel I felt pretty good for several years. Then I scared myself a few times, inadvertently found some ice, had some equipment failures, and started to feel a little sheepish. Stopped flying as much and put some...

    Single engine planes for fiki

To be clear, this did not apply to ALL serial #'s of the models listed. It only applies to models that did not come from the factory with FIKI certification. My 310R was FIKI certified and remained so after the AD. It only applied to mainly the "deiced" models.

The first bay of the red iron structure in the photo above will be my new permanent home which will be finished in a few months. I've got a temporary home in the community hangar and will be moving on Friday! Supposedly FAA is delayed in certifying the approaches which won't be done until...

Grand opening today. Over 800 people showed up to hear our Governor of Iowa, local dignitaries, and Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenberg speak and do the ribbon cutting. Muilenburg grew up here and his childhood home is 1.5 miles from the approach to 18.

    The bird did not survive.

I was just on a departing flight LAS to MSP and we had a bird strike. It was DL0968 with an 11:33am local departure. Wondering if any of you liveatc gurus can pull the audio? There was a very audible crunch, about a 10 second delay and then the plane leveled off and the throttles came...

What are you most passionate about?

Not that I haven’t done a few of those, but I live in the sticks and have a very tempting garage.

What are you most passionate about?

It’s cookery for me. Probably for the same reasons that aviation appeals to me. Learning, preparation, requires execution with a bit of artestry, and very few people can do it well. I also get gigged by cars, but love to find the performance limits in a way that isn’t always conducive to...

    double yolkers

Lol. Not uncommon for flocks just coming into production. Very basically, they can produce yolks faster than they can put a shell on.

    Eh.....er....ummmm.....maybe.

Why should I not buy a Cessna 421.??

The engines are a big part of it. No spark plugs, no equivalent oil change, no mixture fumbling, starter clutch, no magneto, etc. I’m not an expert, but from what I’ve seen the 425 systems/structures are generally beefier also. I think max gross on a 421 is 6800-7000 depending upon year and...
