Throw a rock and you can hit 200 applicants that have the experience to be a regional/ULCC/LCC F/O. The problem is those airlines needs captains, and you need 1000 hours of 121 time in order to be a captain. And you need captains to fly airplanes that require F/O's. It is a vicious circle.

Everyone has a different definition of a good job. Commuting to reserve for years doesn't always lead to fulfillment for some people. It's nice to have choices.

If you get hired by United and have 1000 hours of 121 time, you can bid for a captain slot during basic indoc. You'll have to fly as an f/o for a certain amount of time but chances are you'll be in the left seat making $300k plus within a year. You'll be on reserve with a not great schedule, but...

Sounds like he left the access ladder on the outside of the airplane as well. It clips on just below the crew door and must be removed by the pilot after they board.

What Happens (Happened) to 737 Max Flight Crews?

At my airline if a flight got cancelled, you're pay protected. The company can still do something with you within a certain time frame. Once that is up you're free from obligations. You can even try to pick up another trip that is within the footprint of your old trip and make some extra dough.

It was freezing rain for a big part of the day, I will assume that the ice on the door was from after it landed on the ground. This guy is lucky to be alive. I'm hoping the reason for the crash is more than just a distracted pilot

As usual, it appears that the OP has punched out on this thread when questions start being asked. I wonder if he's telling the flight schools up front what his situation is, or they don't find out till it's time for him to take the checkride, and then they decided not to sign him off due to...
