It was 2002, RV-6 versus a Piper Clipper on final to 27L. The Piper pilot survived.

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

Gotcha, thanks. I've been re-reading the docket since last week and wondered how I hadn't come across that information. I was fortunate to fly onboard Collings planes four times between 2010-2014, including twice on 909. I feel that I knew the risks and accepted them, but I was also encouraged...

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

To clarify, I'm looking for where awh01 saw it definitively stated in the docket - or elsewhere, for that matter - that his certs were rescinded. Rob Who admittedly should have quoted the entire conversation to avoid unnecessary and unhelpful pedantry

B-17 Down at Bradley Int'l Airport

I'm not seeing that information in the NTSB docket. However, the FAA Airmen Inquiry page shows his ATP and CFI ratings "may not be valid," and to contact AFS-620 for verification.

From YT comments on the high speed taxi video. He sounds a little testy. "Just so you guys all don't wet your pants... I had a low oil light that was because I had slightly less oil in the sump than what is required. I followed my procedure to reduce throttle, flatten the prop and then restore...

"Some" kudos, in that it was the best decision he's made in quite some time... and even then, as we've both noted, he almost f****d it up (but didn't.)

...And, he's back, and there was some excitement. After around 10 minutes in the air, Peter urgently advised the tower he wanted to return to the field and land opposite traffic on 17. ("I'm not declaring an emergency yet but may do so in the next 30 seconds.") Tower cleared him to land on 17...

He places an awful lot of faith in the aircraft's parking brake and ONE wheel chock on the left main (there's maybe a chunk of... something?... in front of the right main wheel?) to keep it from going anywhere as he's walking around...

    Bo down Pembroke Pines, FL

In this case it looks like a 180 to land opposite direction on the parallel runway, which in theory improves the odds somewhat versus the Impossible Turn back to the departure runway. But you still need altitude... As it stands, it looks like they still would have come down in the tennis...

    missing pilot

While it's possible the OP fell into the groundhog media trap you describe, I took it to mean a guy whose certificate has been revoked probably wouldn't want his name or intentions in front of anyone affiliated with the FAA, even Leidos.

FWIW Volvo's initial and long-term quality have consistently trended downward since Geely took over in 2010; on the other hand, the brand's sales have steadily increased. Make of that what you will. As for the 80-100 people reportedly now out of work, well... not to sound unfeeling, but the...

"It's a costly mistake, but it is what it is. You know, I've just got to go through the motions and get it done so I can get back on to finishing off the 40 hours..." The casualness of this statement is rather unnerving as it applies to this particular project.

Sounds like the expected (inevitable?) fail scenario occurred today, very fortunately in close proximity to the airport. FWIW, he seems to have handled it well; between LiveATC and FlightRadar24 tracking, it does appear he made it to the runway in one piece, and his voice was understandably...

LiveATC caught PM's full callup to ATC, in which he acknowledged "I have a slight rattle in the back that's annoying me." Curiously, he edited that part out for the video. https://archive.liveatc.net/kvld/KVLD-Jan-30-2021-2100Z.mp3 That's at the 10:25 mark. BTW, if you back up to 5:55, you'll...

Perhaps, but I also think PM should heed a sadly prescient statement from this 2018 interview with Hogan (at 2:24) and consider the resulting aftermath of not heeding it. "As soon as everyone feels comfortable then we'll get it into the air. The one thing we won't rush is flight test."
