Aircraft down at Hartford Brainard KHFD

N550LX. The pilot aborted his initial takeoff attempt at 2:30 on the below feed, reporting to tower "a little shimmy in my landing gear, I want to check it out." The accident occurred during his subsequent departure, beginning at 9:15 (no accident sounds recorded.)...

Plane in wires near KGAI (Montgomery County, MD)

One would think the pilot would've used up all his luck by surviving a crash in a box canyon. Or maybe it just takes 30 years (give or take a transmission tower) to... recharge it?

    Cirrus Vision Jet KMQJ

"Shortly after takeoff from the Indianapolis Regional Airport, 3867 N Aviation Way, Greenfield, pilot Timothy Borrup, 54, Palm Bay, Fla., told officials he experienced engine issues in the Cirrus Vision SF50 aircraft and headed back to the airport for an emergency landing."...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Even when not in formation per se, larger/slower aircraft have taken the outside track in shows I've seen as they take wider turns.

DA62 makes emergency landing on Dallas street

The aircraft is a 2018 model, so very likely a servicing issue.

    Midair Boulder, CO

The Skyhawk's tracking data is blocked through the Limited Aircraft Data Displayed, or LADD program, which essentially prohibits the FAA from sharing ADS-B-derived tracking information with commercial tracking sites like FlightAware. However, raw ADS-B Out data can still be picked up by...

Failure of Blue Origin's New Shepard a reminder that spaceflight is still hard

Minor points: Booster #1 successfully performed liftoff, ascent and capsule sep staging, but failed during the (company's first-ever) landing attempt. And BO fully expected to lose Booster #2 during the capsule abort test, but it survived and made a successful propulsive landing. So far, New...

    Centennial - 182 Fatal

It would indeed appear so. https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/api/Aviation/ReportMain/GenerateNewestReport/105704/pdf "A post-accident examination of the airplane revealed a nose-low, low-speed impact with terrain, consistent with an aerodynamic stall. There was no fuel in either wing tank...

CFI and student die in crash SMO

Early models were notoriously light in pitch, even for LSA. Later builds (including, I'd assume, PiperSports like this one) are reportedly a bit better but those I've talked with who've flown them have said control forces are still not particularly well-harmonized?

    Orlando DA-42 taxi fatality

One apparent difference in photos from the ORL accident relative to others posted on this thread is that the tail structure appears to have been crushed. Not sure how causal that may be, though.

I flew a Cessna 162 Skycatcher LSA across the USA alone ... and it was awesome

Short answer: the outsized influence of 'traditional' A&Ps familiar with the (antiquated, heavier and less efficient) O-200, who successfully convinced Cessna they wouldn't invest the funds and time to support a Rotax. Which, for some at least, turned out to be exactly the right call.
