Thinking about - er bought - a Jeep Gladiator

Trying to rational a niche vehicle like these is a lost cause. I mean the Tacoma is probably the worst modern vehicle in existence to drive yet they are still best sellers. Personally I think the Gladiator is better in every way compared to a Tacoma. The problem is they are compromised in an...

    Strike Finder or ADF

An ADF is a bit redundant if you have a GPS and a VOR receiver. The ADF is nice for holds as it gives you a nice visual reference. I do love my old strike finder though, it is extremely useful especially when combined with ADSb weather. We all know ADSB lags so you can compare what you see on...

Daughter wants a fun car, dad wants something more practical.

I still like the C5 Zo6. Every now and then one pops up for sale near me in the color I like and I get sorely tempted to buy it. Then my practical side kicks in and talks me out of it. Maybe one day!

Thinking about - er bought - a Jeep Gladiator

I've always liked these and 25% off makes it much more attractive. At sticker price it's just too expensive. I am with you, the V6 is a horrible application in these. Even the slightest hill requires a down shift on the freeway. One of my good friends had a Mojave but traded it for a...

Daughter wants a fun car, dad wants something more practical.

I had a V6 Camaro for a loaner car once. You get used to the visibility pretty quickly, it's not really much worse than most other coupes. The high belt line makes it feel worse than it actually is. After a day it was a non issue. I had a 95 Z28 in high school and that V6 would spank it and...

Daughter wants a fun car, dad wants something more practical.

Well there is a plot twist! The Maverick is probably the best value out but it certainly isn't going to be fun! lol. I wanted one pretty bad when they first launched but you couldn't get one unless you paid 10k or more above sticker. The only reason I wanted one was because it was a cheap...

Daughter wants a fun car, dad wants something more practical.

Personally I've owned several makes and models and there is no real difference in how reliable they are until you get to Luxury car levels. Sure there are bad ones occasionally but when it comes to main stream cars the perceived reliability would be at the bottom of my consideration list. A VW...

    Questair Venture vs DarkAero 1?

There were lots of reasons the Venture didn't explode in popularity. 1. Looks sell and lots of people can't get past it's looks or have a notion that it will be terrible to fly or be uncomfortable just because it looks so different. Non of that is true though, compared to the competition it...

    T-hangar construction

Just pay attention to the fine print of the government grant. My airport purchased all the steel and had the sites graded but now the project has been idle for the last 6 months. The grant requires that a DOT approved contractor construct the hangars. They are having difficulty finding...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

This almost makes me cry. Poor paint!

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

look on the bright side, at least you could talk to the Tesla engineer without knowing Spanish like you would for the MachE. ;)

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

That's not really true. Tesla has a board just like any other publicly traded company that can overrule such tendencies. I admire the guy, what he has accomplished, and his stick it to the man attitude which if I'm being honest is another main reason they are the only ones I would consider...

    0-360 engine question

The reality is, you just don't know. If the cylinders are original you can bore scope them and get a good feeling of how corrosive it's environment has been. All you can do is compare it to similar planes for sale and determine if it's a good enough value for you. If spending 30k after 100...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Love them or hate them, a Tesla would be the only EV I'd own right now simply because of the charging infrastructure. I know other vehicles are adopting the Tesla style charge port so that may change. Otherwise I've seen so many horror stories of charging stations I would be really...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Tanking in the same way other consumer electronics do. When something new and flashy comes along people want to dump last years tech.

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

I'm not really in the market but I have noticed from the random Facebook Marketplace suggestions the prices on older EV's are really tanking. Will be curious to hear your feedback up there in the frozen north!

    Hail damage repair?

Best answer is to live with it. There might be ways to fill them in but no real "approved method" to my knowledge short of reskinning. I would certainly think the next prospective buyer would rather see new paint with some dents than see a hail damage write up with no visible dents after paint.

    Top Gun 3

I was torn on TG2. As far as aviation themed movies go it was pretty well done. I enjoyed the part some of the original cast members played. What annoyed me was some of the scenes modeled after the original that didn’t translate well to modern times. I also didn’t like the ground attack aspect...

Question about Grumman AA1 in regards to density altitude

I had an original AA1 with the “hot wing” and the C2C engine. Its climb rate wasn’t all that different from any other 100 hp 2 seater. The difference was you were doing 20mph more across the ground at the same climb rate which makes it feel worse than it really is. I will say I didn’t trust the...
