Is ATP CTP a cash grab?

Like most FAA requirements it's useless and most likely a result of an over reaction to something. Just like the 1500 hour rule, it's not quantity it's quality but they can't control the quality so they just increase quantity.

Scary High Oil Temps - Lycoming 540

It doesn't need to be boiling, just needs to be a known temp. Heat some water up in a cup, put a digital temp probe in it and dunk the temp sensor in and compare the readings.

Scary High Oil Temps - Lycoming 540

If the new cooler and baffling still doesn't solve your problem it's pretty easy to verify the gauge accuracy.

    Tesla Pickup Unveil

Everybody complaining about it's looks and utility yet you take pictures when you see one, watch videos on youtube, comment every time you pass one. I'd say mission accomplished for Tesla! They aren't intended for people who NEED a truck, or even a practical vehicle. They are meant for the...

    I just got screwed..

They might advertise that but actually getting hired at those hours is going to take a bit of networking. To get 750 either keep flying on your dime or get your CFI and instruct.

    I just got screwed..

400 hours tt isn’t going to qualify you for much. I honestly find it remarkable you got an offer to fly skydivers with so few hours. 500 hours isn’t going to change much either. Maybe 750-1200 will start getting you interviews unless you get your CFI.

Sea plane landings - who governs the water ?

Really depends on who manages the water. Here in N.C. it can be a town, county, power company, army, state, you name it. Very hard to determine where it’s legal to land.

    Icon Spirals In

The reality is every plane sold has to have a high enough mark up to cover the multi million dollar potential lawsuit for the next 40+ years the product is around. If a boat fails out of warranty worst case they loose a customer.

They targeted an extremely small piece of the market. Add in their flashy advertisements, huge booths at shows, and highly publicized mishaps and I am shocked they lasted this long.

Fixed gear temporarily for insurance purposes?

If you are shopping for a Lance or Cherokee 6 and Insurance premium is a deal breaker, your bank account isn't going to lake the rest of the expenses lol.

    I’m calling the peak

The solution is simple, stop paying these crazy prices and they will start coming back down. I am sure there are exceptions but I certainly have noticed planes I am interested in aren't selling or take months to find the right buyer at the price they are asking.

    [NA] Toyota Tundras

When it comes to trucks they are all extremely reliable these days. Sure there will be a lemon get through occasionally but I wouldn't let reliability factor at all into which brand I purchased. Find the one that best fits your wish list and that you enjoy driving.

    [NA] Toyota Tundras

I'm fully aware which is why my current truck is a gas 3500. I can get parts for it anywhere and I can fix pretty much anything that could go wrong in a parking lot with a basic socket set. That said, the few times I go through the mountains with a load I dream about how much nicer it would be...

    [NA] Toyota Tundras

I remember when the second generation Tundra came out. The local airport manager had bought one and got heckled relentlessly in our small town full of Ford and GM trucks. He let me drive it shortly after getting it and I'll be honest, I was blown away. It had so much power and the 6 speed...

    Tesla Pickup Unveil

If everyone made logical decisions with the salvation of the planet in mind they would be driving base model Camry's they bought 20 years ago or a new one they plan to keep for the next 20. If you want an electric car for the performance, image, or a status symbol then do so. Just don't be one...

    Tesla Pickup Unveil

That guys is obviously a troll ;). No logical person would buy an electric truck to tow a travel trailer. Even if they did why not get a Lightning or Silverado EV over a Tundra. People really got to get past the truck aspect or any justification for buying one. It's a toy and status symbol...

    Vehicle Wraps [NA]

I too had a few wrap quotes and the price was ridiculous. I had a few areas or my car wrapped in clear as I knew the gloss black would take a beating. Even that was crazy expensive for what it is. As long as you don't get any major scratches a good buff and wax job will fix light scratches...

    Cub Crafter prices

They do go together extremely fast. Pretty common for a novice builder to knock one out in a couple years. A second time builder that is likely retired can easily get one airworthy in a year. You are paying for the completion level. If you really plan to use one for its capability then great...

    Cub Crafter prices

I've always wondered the same. Then again people are out there paying 45k plus for J3's so there doesn't have to be a reason.

Why is my mechanic so against a turbo?

Having a high performance plane I too flight plan the winds. Eastbound I'll climb as high as beneficial for the winds, westbound I rarely climb over 6-8k or what ever I need for terrain clearance. Usually the winds aloft from 15-25k don't increase enough to justify the climbing time or the...
