Got a Jet Job...and Some Motivation for Others

I just turned 37 with 390 hours and commercial checkride next week. Thanks for sharing, I didn't know I needed a story like this to crank up the fire under my butt! Not quitting my day job until I have multi comm and/or CFI to keep my debt low.

What are currently the best EFBs for Android?

I've had in-flight lockups with all efbs I've used(foreflight, flyQ, iflygps), however, it happened only a few times with foreflight. It was the reason I upgraded from a mini4 to a mini5, after clearing apps and restarting the iPad before flight didn't resolve the issue. Didn't work btw, still...

What are currently the best EFBs for Android?

Similar situation. I use the iPad in the cockpit with a lifetime flyQ subscription. I have iFly on my android phone that is used as backup and for planning. I prefer to plan with the iPad however, I have my phone on me all the time and the iPad is usually stashed in my flight bag. I have a...

iPad Mini 5 or Mini 6?

I do prefer the more squared up aspect ratio like on the 5 too, however, not as much as I like the extra screen real estate on the 6 (remember same external dimensions.) And the aspect ratio isn't as narrow as most phones. Now the split screen feature is more useful on the 6 than with the 5.

iPad Mini 5 or Mini 6?

I use an android phone, not really a power user of any gadget. So the 64gb iPad with aviation and weather apps almost never goes beyond 1/2 full on the storage even with all the apps necessary to keep my toddler happy when not flying.

iPad Mini 5 or Mini 6?

I bought my mini 6 on backmarket and as soon as it arrived I found a few on swappa for a little less.

iPad Mini 5 or Mini 6?

I recommend the mini 6 even though I miss the button on the mini 5. More screen real estate, same footprint. I had a mini 4 and had occasional app freezing up and crashing. Thought the mini 5 would remedy that. Nope. Haven't had enough long cross-country flights with the mini 6 to compare. Good luck

    Who is Doing These Jobs?

One school I train with charges $84/hr for the CFI and that's with a discount. The CFIs make out probably not much above minimum wage if you count all the time they're putting into it. Heard one CFI works a corporate WFH gig in between students. Good for him!

    Mid-Air at Winter Haven

I have ads-b feed on my tablet. And some planes feed the traffic to the GPS. But I don't look down at my tablet when I'm in the pattern. Tablet traffic mostly when I approach an airport for situational awareness. The plane's GPS can be part of my scan. But most people's scan is limited and eyes...

    Mid-Air at Winter Haven

The cub perhaps had the sun in there eyes in climb attitude if this was the case. And the Cherokee probably was dividing attention with the runway, airspeed and prepping to land. I fly out of Zephyrhills and most of these airports are beehives when I'm up. I like to go to Bartow and Lakeland and...

First Time Flying to Key West

I usually fly V225 straight shot from Naples when I fly to/from Key West. There are so many boats and ships in those waters that if you lose the engine, aim for one and honk the horn as you pass by (joke).

Want To Buy iPad Mini 6 with cellular

That should work fine. But a few times I forgot to bring my adsb/GPS device and the internal GPS bailed me out. The money you save going wifi you can put towards higher storage version.

    Sun 'n Fun 2023

I've been going every year since 2016 exception for 2020. But I usually ride my bike. If you live within driving distance, and have to work all week, buy a ticket Saturday. It includes Sunday entrance. Never felt like I missed out on something from the weekdays.

Latest iPad Pro Vs Air? - 2022 Models

I used a mini4 then mini5. Now I use a mini6, recent purchase. Bigger screen in the same outer dimensions is nice but I didn't realize how often I used the button in the previous models. I mount it to the yoke, or in a lap strap depending on the sunlight (typically fly a Grumman Traveler). I use...

Flying for European Airline with FAA commercial??

Wonder about expanding the search to other continents. One guy I met went to the UAE to fly. He claimed they were hiring at 500 hours. Probably full of it.

Best twin for building multi/complex time besides the Seminole

Ok, 30 minutes is an exaggeration for the burping portion. They want us to burp until the oil reaches halfway up the dipstick. Took us over 20 turns once. I only started flying this thing in a few months ago. Good thing I always keep a spare shirt in my flight bag. I really like flying the plane.
