Apple To Reportedly Launch An Unnamed Foldable Device As Early As 2026 To Replace The iPad mini

I really like my folding android phones. The Galaxy form factor is the worst when folded up. I have the Oneplus Open and I really like it. I can plan flights any time, anywhere without carrying a separate device. I can browse the services and one tap call FBOs, awos ph#, rental cars, etc. right...

Clearwater FL crash into mobile home park

I have rented out of KCLW and trained for my multi out of there. It isn't the easiest airport to find in the daytime, much less at night. No IAPs. It's right traffic for rwy 34, maybe when he was having issues he decided to divert to PIE instead.

    Shortest Cross Country

Very close, ILS was out of service, RNAV runway 23. Didn't get the approach in the clearance on the ground though.

    Shortest Cross Country

I do have you beat. My shortest IFR cross-country was KZPH to KVDF, 16.2 nm. 300 foot ceilings, runway 23 at both airports are closely aligned. I learned it is no fun at all to be that busy in IMC. I made the bonehead mistake of not having the approach loaded before takeoff.

    Ideal aircraft for commercial training

Even though I had a plane I fly regularly with the club (Grumman AA5), I went to a local school and did my commercial in their Piper Archers. For those planes every maneuver is already worked out, speeds, power setting, configuration, altitudes, etc. The instructors all did their training in...

    ...

I would do most training with #1 and periodically fly with #2 for stage checks and second opinion for check ride prep.

(NA - sort of) Your at your local airport and witness a fellow pilot kick a dog on a leash

A hard kick is probably never called for unless in case of a dog attack. But using your legs to aid in some correction seems fine. For example, my dog trainer that also trains K9s and service dogs instructed me to knee our bully in the chest when they jump on you for petting. I've seen that...

    Shortest Cross Country

KCLW - KPIE = 5.6nm is probably my shortest.

    IFR Flight Training.

Other tips are good. Somewhere down the line, make sure you are doing everything. The turning, tuning, GPS, radio calls, checklists etc. Try to get to the point where you are ahead of the plane so that you anticipate turns, time and calls. Early on fly a couple different approaches in visual...

    Ideal aircraft for commercial training

Agree with this. After my Commercial training and checkride in a PA-28, I flew with the same instructor for the HP endorsement. It was fun doing all the commercial maneuvers and landings in a Saratoga.

    Commercial standards and instructor ratings

Even before you take your commercial written, study up some of the commercial maneuvers and fly a couple lessons covering the newer material. Then every time you fly, practice some of those maneuvers, polish and smooth out when preparing for the checkride. Make all your landings from here on out...

Buying a cheap plane for training

$91/hr wet is a good deal. Give that a shot. Reasons to not use that cheap plane is if the plane is always broke, booked up when you need it, or you see that the maintenance is shady. Before joining the club, look at the financials, calendar of flying history, go for a flight with a member, and...

    ANR headsets with small earcups

I agree. I have the in-ear CQ1 with custom molded ear pieces and they are my favorite. I prefer them even over my Bose A20. Some additional benefit is hair and hats and glasses or sunglasses aren't any problem. I have a comfortable Sony noise cancelling headset and I have thought about the...

    ANR headsets with small earcups

Some people have recommended I get Lightspeed Sierras for my kids. Maybe that could work.

    Pivotal altitude. Why it matters...

I had three instructors during my commercial training. The third one really centered the importance of pivotal altitude in the 8s on pylon. The others really were teaching two adjacent turns around a point. I wish I had learned about it earlier in all my training because it really is important...

First Plane Minimum 200hp (Business Use) Keeping 3-5 Years - Suggestions?

While you are training, take every opportunity to network and fly every plane you can, talk to the owners, talk to the mechanics. You can crunch the numbers and everything will be perfect on paper but you may find that you don't like the comfort or ergonomics for frequent long flights in a...

    Cell Phone for Traffic Awareness

I forget to bring my ipad sometimes. I have been using a folding android phone for the last couple years. I usually plan flights on my phone which opens up into a tablet sized screen. Makes planning easier, and it can be a compact phone efb or tablet when needed.
