    AS334 Jul5 2023 bomb threat

Years ago as I was handcuffing a guy on the plane, the lady nearby asked, ‘don’t you know who’s getting on the plane’? This was after I did the finger twirl on the side of the head, indicating issues. I had a silent chuckle. Before you ask, the individual culminated with grabbing a lady in...

    Uneven wear on tires

I’m looking into tires myself, targeting the annual 9 months away. I’ll have to look in the books, current tires are 8-10 years old, came with the plane. They are Michelins, good tread but now showing light cracking in the grooves. When I bought my previous plane, a Warrior, the tires were...

    Read the NOTAMS

When most else falls short, I’m a fan of a big yellow ‘X’, lighted at night. I think most should put critical Notams in red, like runway closures compared to the unlighted obstacle 2 miles from the airport. Yeah I’ll look ahead of time, then use Garmin Pilot as plans change in flight.

    Remedial Household Training

Yeah, and if it’s just a regular plug, don’t keep flushing to the overflow point.

I've got no comment on this one

The Troopers said the plane appears to have ‘minimal damage’ after landing in the soybean field? Upon closer inspection, I’d kinda think some of the leading edges are buggered up. Glad they made it. Not to many good excuses likely available.

My son is taking flying lessons

Nice to hear about the enthusiasm. It’s a great time to get into piloting, yes a little $$ helps. Keep him on track, should be a worthwhile career on the other end.

Port of Coupeville Buying KOKH (Update: Now Owned by Robert DeLaurentis Instead)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Outlying_Landing_Field_Coupeville Brings up some memories at OLF Coupeville. I almost don’t blame them complaining about noise, the Prowler at 600’ AGL takes getting used to. Of course this field was well before most any house near the pattern. Yes...

(Comfortably) Buying a plane without a prebuy?

I bought 3 planes over the years, no prebuy on any of them. Yes I did evaluate the sellers, talked to some maintenance shops, looked things over. I’m not an A&P. Seems with most any plane, one ends up getting a few things up to snuff. I never felt bamboozled with my purchases, things drifted...

Cherokee Six Down in Canada-6 fatalities

If some of those weather observations were accurate, this plan should of been torpedoed with the preflight weather check, or even looking outside.

OSH - T-6 goes into Lake Winnebago Saturday 7/29 morning

I had a question about this flight, not even about the spin issue. Backing up more, what type of maneuvers were planned, had been done, & doing? No I don’t own a T-6, you got me there. What I’m getting at, is how much does one normally ‘hang it out’, on an intro flight of sorts? There were...

Cherokee Six Down in Canada-6 fatalities

Didn’t look at the route or location, I see terrain was mentioned in an article. I thought it was enroute, so they got off ok. Even in mountainous terrain there are road valleys, airways & such. If one forgets about going gps direct, there can be fairly safe options.

    [NA] Playboy lifestyle

Yeah, I saw 4 planes coming & going recently at the airport, 2 were twins. What they had in common was each had only the pilot onboard. I guess the significant others were home keeping the house in order? Maybe time to bring back the single-seaters?

UFO? UAP? What are your tax dollars finding out?

Many ‘want to believe’. That’s ok, makes for a nice conversation over beers.

OSH - T-6 goes into Lake Winnebago Saturday 7/29 morning

I thought there was ADS track data? No I didn’t watch any analysis about the tragic accident. Then we have some witnesses, though we know require scrutiny. I think with that, one can get an idea what happened.

UFO? UAP? What are your tax dollars finding out?

I remain a skeptic. I know a seemingly intelligent guy who says he smelled a Bigfoot once. The human mind is a very fertile garden, I’m going with that. ‘Common sense’ would say, if they were so advanced to get here, why sneak around? They could boldly introduce themselves, state their...

    Chicago Skyline Route

I give a few 100’ buffer from the airspace, maybe average 1/2 mile offshore. I don’t bother trying to ask ORD approach anything, I usually listen up though. That’s my methods.

I want to go to OSH 2024... BUT

I could go right now & get a place to stay, could be 1.5 hours away, maybe it’s costs a lot. Things change, people cancel.

What's the ideal propeller ground clearance?

I had a flat nose strut a few months ago, I still had 3.5 inches or so. With a flat nose tire on top of it, possibly questionable with any dip in the pavement. I rolled it into my annual, seal needed to be replaced.

    See You in Oshkosh 2023!

I usually go early, didn’t do anything special this year with work. Right now it’s Friday the 28th for me, works out better for relatives that want to go.
