    Summer flight planning...

Today was a great example, the morning was terrible, mid day iffy, afternoon very good. Now that it’s late evening, questionable again. Often part of the given day is safely flyable, ‘make hay while the sun shines’ comes to mind.

    Supreme Court: Chevron Deference

I’m still advocating for the very traditional fuel can. You know, a pour spout on one side, an air vent on the other. I blame EPA regulations. I’m being serious when I say I’ve never seen more spilled fuel than with newer ‘epa’ cans. Don’t worry, all my fuel cans are older, respouted, or...

    Need help planning a trip

Two great destinations. My advice would be to line up sights along the way. Some things just warrant a ‘fly-by’, no need for a vehicle & ground transportation. Just give them 2001’ minimum AGL.

Five members of Georgia family killed (Piper PA-46 crash)

Looks like an inflight breakup, convective activity in the area.

    Moving to Idaho!

Very nice, I like the plan. Maybe get new plates for the vehicle soon after moving.

    Swan’s island tree trimming

This video has a little more info, said it was part of a go-around. The airport is rather marginal, 1500’ runway, poor condition. I think the pilot was from NY.

    Ridge Landing Airpark Florida.

I agree, not hard to find cool places to fly. I lived in Central MS a handful of years, with my Cherokee 140, got around plenty. OBTW, no A/C. Do your research, evaluation, we all have different expectations. Not far from Sun & Fun, that’s a bonus. It seems FL is still the rage, prices...

    Yet another ADHD post.

If not to far of a trip, take him to Oshkosh the last week in July.

Restarting training after a pretty long absence

15-20 hours, never got the private pilots license? Isn’t the minimum to take a check ride 40 hours, with certain requirements? Even if you don’t track down the records, I think it will just take care of itself. You should be a fair bit beyond the average starting student, zero time...

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

UNU, Watertown, West Bend, Burlington, anyplace WNW of MKE Class C space.

These folks need to be stopped.

Don’t forget to ‘abort’ the takeoff with engine failure below V1 speed. The term ‘man-hole’ cover needs to be changed, it’s not just men that may go down to work in the sewer. Even though I like them, not sure where the term ‘mannlicher’ came from for a rifle stock. That should be...

ADHD meds and diagnoses as a child.

I’m not playing doctor, does he ‘need’ the adhd drugs? I know even less about the 2nd condition. With the right unit, I think the Civil Air Patrol is a great start.

    Dan Gryder Lockheed Electra Crash

I don’t know much about Dan or his Utube offerings. I did watch one the other day, he was talking about how the same causes repeat over & over, with accidents. Glad he’s mostly ok. I find it kinda crazy he turns up in some of these events. I think it’s time he take a break to work on his 66...

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

To many Mom’s are into prescription meds, sorry.

    Is it just me?

Now they will be the ones deviating 50 miles around every convective cell they see, one extreme to the next. Likely a relatively short flight with a 320, a peek at the most recent radar picture before pushing off the gate is helpful, big picture stuff. BWTHDIK.

    ...

No matter what you buy, there will be issues, and bringing it ‘up to snuff’. A number of years ago I listed a low hour Warrior. One ‘tire kicker’ told me he could buy a similar aircraft for cheaper. I told him, go do it. With aircraft, much more than vehicles, conditions matter. One may get...

Amazing save in a Grumman AA-1C

Very good!! Now back the the shop, after action report? I’m just out of annual this weekend. I’ll start with a careful preflight. I think tomorrow I’ll just taxi to the fuel pump.
