Decorated Navy Seal perishes in Cirrus crash Jessup GA 4 -6-23

This comes down to ‘get-there-itis’ and being unwilling to change, adjust or cancel the plans as the day approaches. Flying a light plane around requires cooperative weather. Often with a day or two flexibility one can parse the trip with portions of the time. Yes, instrument flying allows...

Southwest pilot gets locked out of cockpit, climbs through window before flight

That’s why you ALWAYS put the curtain through the door frame when parked!!

N/A: first time owning my own lawn

Nice landscape, seems like a neighborhood to keep things up to snuff. I’m a little more rural, I keep things tidy but even a few dandelions don’t matter much.

And if so, he was way behind with rodent control.

    DIY Q-tip Propellers on a 310!

Well, it is bird nesting season, at least he put the cowl plugs in. Maybe list, ‘as is, where is’, let someone else start the process. Yeah, my plane would likely be written off with a gear up, I realize it. I normally never use flaps without the gear down, NLT abeam the numbers in the pattern.

    DIY Q-tip Propellers on a 310!

I see a very high repair bill.

ATC instructions refer to another aircraft, but...?

For the most part you can figure it out with deductive reasoning. That would be the next behind the Mooney, or whatever. After that, like anything else ATC, ask for clarification. There are terms like ‘student’ or ‘progressive taxi’ that can be used if needed, to alert them to a new or...

    Spreading Ashes

Yeah, I’d be looking for a way other than using the plane.

    Is it possible....

Have to think liability cost, concerns, & insurance factor in heavily. It’s similar to making & selling a ladder or a fuel can.

First visitor in the new hangar

As a preventative I have a little mouse/rat poison tucked away in the hangar. It’s such that there’s no danger to the casual airport canine. I have never seen much sign of anything eating any.

Flying to Niagara Falls, Canadian side

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/offices-bureaux/1025-eng.html If you want to go there, I’m sure there are options for rides, taxi, whatever. I wouldn’t even worry about such issues.

    Good book for student pilot

I think you need a few free downloads from the FAA site. If you don’t know already, pilots like free. https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation

    Transporting your firearm

GRAY MAN THEORY Gray man theory is based on the premise of blending into a crowd or your surroundings to not attract unwanted attention. The reality for a true gray man is that they are, in fact, prepared for any situation, but they don’t appear to be to the untrained eye. Smells and Scents...

Flying to Niagara Falls, Canadian side

We went a few years ago, before Covid. The easiest thing to do is land at KIAG & then cab or Uber to the Canadian side, no rental car needed. We had passports, no biggie at the border. The FBO at Niagara is versed on the procedure, getting a ride to Canada. Yes there is more stuff on the...

    Pondering professional pilot pipeline

They can sit in the run up area at idle, later fly a short flight around the pattern. That’s a cheaper way to build time.

    Oil filter change interval

I normally do the same, new filter with change. I wouldn’t have a problem with a little variance, filter in for another cycle. It just seems best to start clean. Besides any hour interval, we have calendar time, should be factored in. I’m kinda awash in oil now. I’m a sucker for that ride...

VP Waypoints on SFO Class Bravo boundaries

I sometimes load a point or two around the ORD B airspace, lakefront transition, whatever. For the most part these are IFR intersections on the ‘low’ chart. I may not even fly right to them, just reference to keep me out of trouble.

ANG F-15 into Canal, Oregon, 5/15/2023, no injuries

Well, no funeral, so that’s good. Not necessarily anything to do with the pilot coming up short, listed as an instructor also.

gear up landing v tail in woodlake ca

Not sure if there’s any ‘convention’ tooling around in a light aircraft. My procedure is NLT abeam the numbers in a regular pattern, or about 2 mile final with a straight in. I will also add, the busier it is, or if distractions are present, the gear comes down earlier. After that it’s the...
