I have an hour intro flight in an AS350. My in-laws are in the helo business on the opposite side of the country. I would love to get more time in one but no local instruction available.
I think the estimates are going to vary wildly as they are in this thread. It’s going to depend on how interested your shop is.
For my part I couldn't see myself tinkering with that gearbox for 2 weeks. Easy for me to say though.
I have a $40 amazon one that is fantastic for finding fallen hardware or similar. Its paid for itself several times over. That said, its not a machine to inspect engines.
At work we have a $40k one for inspecting engines.
Bombardier approves it to replace safety wire with some limitations. There is a max 6” span IIRC. We use it on the CRJ all the time. I have been tempted to buy a used tool for my own use, too pricey though.

Looks like you could do some basic trouble shooting from your phone.
My encoder takes some time to warm up and start working.
I only drink NA beer. I used to drink it while driving, I have since found its illegal in most states I drive in. I don’t see myself getting in trouble for it but its not worth finding out to me.
Yes but its more than that. It’s built with a mixture of skills that you would be hard pressed to find. I doubt Mike could have found a shop that could have built this for him.
