I worked for a part 135 operator that flew missions for the forest service here in AK. The forest service would only pay for flight hours, so they configured the hobbs meter to start working at 50mph. I think there was a pressure switch on the wing strut that closed and started the hobbs

For me, set trim for TO and let the plane lift off when it's ready to fly

Threads like this are a good reminder that not everyone has the same level of experience. A low time pilot or student just learning to fly vs a MEL pilot not willing to enter the traffic pattern at a reasonable speed with what seems to me little thought of the other planes in a full pattern...

There is a local part 135 operation that fuels as well as let passengers on and off their helos with the engine running. I think the engines are limited to a certain number of start cycles before a hot section inspection or maintenance is required.

I do more rolling runups in the winter. Ice and snow prevent a stationary runup. I also do a mag and carb heat check at low rpm waiting for oi temps to come up.

Change them, they are considered a one time use item use item.

The -19 is under powered with the O-320. The Sundowner with the O-360 has a much better climb rate and the airframe is almost the same as the 19

I picked up an ACK-04 and am happy with it. Coupled it to my GPS so position reports are enhanced. I think the mount has to deflect no more than .1 inches when a 100 pound force on it. You will need to look at the installation instructions for the details

That's wild.. What is that used for? My guess is cut limbs so they do not grow into power lines..

I think it was 1983 when I drove up, camped for a few days and saw the show. That was the only time I have been there. I lived about 1 1/2 hour drive from OSH at the time. It sure would be nice to revisit southern WI and see the show. I'm afraid I spoiled the wife, she only camps out in RV's...

I second the hat idea. In AK I usually wear sweatshirt or hoodie.

Personally I would use what the OEM used. Logbook entries and any future questions about the repair should be a non event.
