Student pilot who conned his Gf into buying a tripacer- & killing her in subsequent accident-finally arrested.

In my mind, there is no doubt that the pilot is guilty and a scumbag, but my question is? Where did the "conned" gf into buying tri-pacer come from. All I was able to read is that she bought it. Am I missing something? GFs have bought me nice things that I didn't ask for.

    Night jobs and family life

Well, being a single dad would complicate it. Child care or babysitters are not easily available for those hours.

    Night jobs and family life

A company I worked for would say: There are 3, 8 hour shifts a day. 1 belongs to the company, 1 belongs to sleep, and the 3rd one is your time. Say you get off at 4 am and home in bed by 5 am. 8 hours sleep gets you up at 1:00. If you have to leave at 7:00 to get to work, you have from 1:00...

    Hiring standards are dropping

Have you had any of the youtube applicants? People around here are tired of interviewing people that say they have experience. When asked about their experience, they say they watched how to do it on youtube.

    Hiring standards are dropping

So no more recruiters hitting the college campuses like they used to do?

    Hiring standards are dropping

I know it is getting hard to find good employees, but I have never seen such low standards. I read a (non-aviation) employment ad this morning. The only thing it listed as required skills was "must have the ability to work Saturdays".

    Tachycardia

That does sound like a better approach. Maybe I am too cautious from reading threads about some AME's that gave the wrong advice to the applicant. I would make sure the AME consulted is an expert in the particular situation before checking no on a box that has a diagnosis in my medical records.

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

I really doubt that on aircraft engines if it is a first run. Maybe if it has been overhauled before and the crank has already been turned close to minimums. If it was previously overhauled, there should be a record of the crank dimensions, or at least the bearing part numbers to see if...

    Tachycardia

When it comes to having an official diagnosis from a doctor, my philosophy is it is always best to check yes and be told I didn't have to, vs checking no and be called out later for not.

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

It seems like when I hear about engines that have flown way past their tbo, they were flown 50+ hrs/month. The engines that didn't make tbo were occasionally flown.

    Perplexing Vacuum Leak

I never had to worry about what to do with my used engine oil. A guy in the back woods had a truck that used so much oil. He would take all my old oil to keep feeding the engine.

    Perplexing Vacuum Leak

Another easy tip about checking for bad compression rings: Your engine oil will be much hotter than normal. That hot combustion gets past the rings to heat oil in the sump.

Drivers license suspended and non owner insurance

I understood right away that you were talking about flying. I assume the talk of driving is just idle talk on how a license can have a non dui suspension.

Any issues not flying for awhile on a newly issued SI 3rd class?

    Assuming no regulatory amendments.

    Glaucoma Suspect

For sure, follow Dr. B's advice, but don't panic just yet until you have seen your ophthalmologist. Typically it is a visit to ophthalmologist first, and if they still suspect glaucoma, it will be a referral to a glaucoma specialist. I have been diagnosed with normal tension glaucoma. I have...

    Perplexing Vacuum Leak

The PCV valve in the rear has to be hooked to a vacuum source (intake manifold or carb). The PCV valve is normally closed and vacuum opens it. I think you just need to hook that back up to vacuum to properly vent the crankcase.
