Might be driven by insurance requirements. Many events like this have insurance coverages that kick in to cover lost income. The insurance companies are taking a beating and may be pushing for earlier cancellation to help curtail increasing sunk costs by the time the event is actually cancelled.

From Livermore, CA (KLVK) to Eatonton, GA (32GA) in December in my new-to-me RV-6A. Not quite coast to coast, but pretty close. Went via El Paso, TX and Monroe, LA for overnight stops and fuel stops at Blythe, CA (KBLH) and Granbury, TX (KGDJ). 14 hrs on the hobbs meter.

I had similar issue with just an individual owner. I printed my name at the top of the form, but forgot to also print it underneath my signature at the bottom of the form. They had to send it back to me to have me print my name a second time and send it back to them. Yeesh! Gotta love our tax...

I didn't know how to do self-service fuel when I got my license 13 years ago. Just wasn't something the instructors taught.

I also took the train out to Farmingdale on Long Island and rented a 172 and instructor last time I was there and flew the Hudson River Corridor with them. That was absolutely the highlight of my trip.

And here I thought it was five syllables. ;)

Might also have had something to do with where they were planning to stay in the area. While KTRI may have been closer to the speedway, O9A may have been closer to their house or hotel (or whatever) where they were planning to stay.
