    Gaston's Return Trip Thread

Landed a while ago, just sitting down to the computer now. After leaving 3M0, we went over to BPK to fuel up, caught up with Teen Doc on final, did a few s-turns to give some space. By the time we took off for 1C5, Flippin was already reporting 'ltg dstnt all quarters' on the metar, so it was...

    Gastons Go/No-Go Thread

N-S runway, the west winds are a kicker. The airport used to have a small e-w runway too, but it was closed many years ago. Bummer we're not based at the airport about 5 miles away (where, by the way, our weather reporting comes from); two nice runways, e-w and n-s. Lucky dogs; I'd have been...

    Gastons Go/No-Go Thread

Wind direction starting to turn for the better. Hoping the gusts lighten up enough so the margaritas can make it out safely about 1300 local; 25 kt direct x-wind on takeoff is not enticing. Should be around 3, 3.5 hrs once we're up. Grant's back catching some extra sleep, I'm off to pack.

    NA- #$%& Birds

Need to watch for birds in the air as well. Coming back home today, making a landing at Lafayette, we were about 4 miles out. Heard someone closer in call a bird strike - they were quickly cleared to land.

Big Thanks To Kaye From The Girls

Morning, everyone! Have attached a few pix of the Girl Scout Badge Day, so you can see where all those wonderful charts went.... The girls traveled in groups through 7 stations, learking about everything from the founder of the 99s (Amelia Earhart), to how planes fly, parts of a plane...

A question for the ladies here...

Interesting that I read this just as I come back from completing my first night solo flight. I agree with Aunt Peggy, Kate and Barb - maybe, but trust that instinct. That, and trust the backup granola bar in your flight bag - having options on the ground as well as in the air is a good...

    Lunch at Lambert's - KCGI

Well, part of it was lunch, the other part was getting some flying time after not having had much opportunity to get out lately. Decided to turn it into a 'micro-vacation', head to someplace that was relatively warm. Felt good to get up in the air and go again.

    Lunch at Lambert's - KCGI

Just settling back in from lunch at Lambert's. I deliberately had a light breakfast, and was all the better for it. The people were courteous, and the food was fantastic; comfort food heaven. Began the fest with some sweet tea, okra that somehow wouldn't stop appearing at our table :) , and gee...

    Lunch at Lambert's - KCGI

Muncie doesn't look too good for Saturday, so Grant and I are planning on Cape Girardeau, MO instead. Heard good things about the FBO, and we should be able to get a ride to Lambert's, home of the 'throwed rolls'. Thinking of landing somewhere between 11:30 and noon, if anyone would like to...

    Vacation......

Hey: if it's got BVI after it, I can be flexible in terms of which island I actually end up on  Kaye, have a great time - and definitely put my name on one of those painkillers! Leslie

    Buyers/sellers remorse

Just under 10 minutes flying right seat in a Pilatus PC-12; I think it had all of 160 hours on the tach. I pause a little longer now when I see one, dream a bit, then move on....

    Muncie Update

Good to hear that there's a new owner in the space - I'd be interested in how they're doing. Don't know where you are on dates, but I'd be interested in joining if you go next weekend, Saturday or Sunday (May 5/6). The following two weekends (Mother's Day and the fly-out to the Philly area)...

    Rockford next Thursday?

Hi, all. Well, things are getting done here at work, but with the current stack of deadlines, I’m getting beat like a drum in the process. The beatings will likely continue until well into the evening, so I’m pretty certain that I won’t be able to make it to Rockford. :( But, I have to work so...

    My 1st NON Pilot Passenger

Sounds like a great flight - and night time too! Very cool... They'll warm to the idea. I remember when I got my private license. I tell Dad (retired Air Force), he says "congratulations." I say, 'So, Dad, care to go up for a flight?" "No." Gee, thanks for the confidence builder...:rolleyes...

Any girly-girls on this board? Nail question

Can't say the knox gelatin thing has worked for me, but I do still hear about it sometimes. Last time I used unflavored gelatin, it was to create some creative wrapping of a christmas gift. Suspended a gift coin for a music store inside two colors of jello (red & green, of course) in a jar...
