    Shopping for insurance?

I received a quote through AOPA, then called Avemco. Avemco was significantly cheaper, almost half the price with the same limits. I read the policy thoroughly and saw no “unique limitations” to the coverage. Everyone’s situation is different, but it’s definitely worth a call to Avemco.

    Self doubt or bad pilot?

How long have you been at it, how many hours? I think everyone gets some pre-game jitters. Your maneuvers don’t have to be perfect, just within the parameters. I assume you already took the written. How did you do? That should give you an idea of your deficiencies in your knowledge and what...

    Looking to replace mixture control

Thanks Dan. I think I’ve got the space on the panel side. I’ll have to see what the carb lever side looks like. Just trying to figure out how involved this would be before I get an A&P involved.

    Looking to replace mixture control

Thanks for the information. I hadn’t heard the term “vernier” before. It makes the search much easier. McFarlane looks like a great place to start.

    Looking to replace mixture control

I recently acquired a 1967 PA-32-260. The current mixture control is a simple push/pull cable, no twist for fine adjustment. It works but feels very imprecise and I prefer the twist adjustment. Has anyone changed from one to the other? Is it a one piece cable and knob or do I just need to...

    whats next

I am a low time pilot though I have had my PP for a few years now. I liked getting checked off in new aircraft at the school. It gave me a chance to fly with other instructors. The additional endorsements you are considering would give you additional time with different CFI’s as well. I found...

Cherokee 140 belly strobe replacement bulb?

Yeah, I was going to try and look through the parts manual to help the OP out, but mine is definitely not stock.

Cherokee 140 belly strobe replacement bulb?

Just got to the hanger. It’s Whelen. Here’s a pic of the only numbers on the plastic cover.

Cherokee 140 belly strobe replacement bulb?

My “new to me” 1967 Cherokee 6-260 has a belly strobe. The lens is cracked, but it still works. I don’t think it is original. It is wired to a breaker that appears to be an add-on. I think the original electronics are all fuses. I have a very thick parts manual at the hanger. I will see if...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

Have you looked into the cost of engine overhaul? Is it a 260 or 300? From what I’ve seen there’s more than a $10k difference between the overhaul of those engines.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I decided to stop saying “what if” when I was 47. You waited a little longer than me. Make sure you can get past the medical, finish the PPL, and see where you’re at. One step at a time. Don’t buy the hanger house quite yet. Fly often. The more you fly , the quicker it will come. It took...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I considered the same move. I was approaching 50 and always felt like my first career should have been pilot. I got my private pilot a few years ago and after looking at the cost of taking it to the next level, the potential income of a regional pilot/CFI, and kids going to college soon, I...

Yeah, I’ve flown that actual aircraft. I’m familiar. The reason I felt the video was relevant.

Student wants advice to end up flying a high performance 6 seater safely

I have been lurking for some time. I am in the market as a low time pilot as well. I really don’t have access to rent anything with the capabilities of a PA-32. I have been renting PA-28’s, 172’s, and a Grumman Tiger. I own a Toyota Sequoia, not because I use its capabilities all the time...
