    Vaping on in airliner lav?

I was in Sea-Tac yesterday and watched two firemen waiting for an occupant to open a family toilet room door so they could respond to a hazard alarm. It turned out to be a janitor who was vaping. I’d bet the detector would pick it up on a plane, too.

How much Camguard to add to O-470?

I add a pint with at oil change. No added Camguard until the next change. The prescripton from the mfgr is 5% Camguard for normal ops and they've told me to use 7% for storage.

ForeFlight Now Requiring IOS 16 or Higher

The newest app version requires a higher functioning processor. How does anyone in current times not understand that? If you don't have the required processor, don't try to run the latest app release. Functionality will remain as it is now. If you find you're missing something the new app...

    SeriusXM Question

For streaming with their app? They sure have good frequency correction. The sound of XM’s streaming app is better than any other I listen to. They make old music that sounds washed out on my CD downloads sound good. I enjoy that.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

You don’t have a Lycoming parts catalog? I posted the page from mine earlier in the thread.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

I wouldn’t trust the threads in the case to hold the same self-locking screw twice. That’s a stupid system. Probably why it isn’t used these days.

    Battery or Both

The only reason I can think of for not turning it on is if the airplane doesn't have a radio master and leaving the alternator off at startup reduces a voltage surge. Modern airplanes should have radio masters so it shouldn't be an issue. Or maybe I'm totally wrong in my assumption. Either way...

    Chrome Problem

Mine's working just fine. Anyone here using a Norton extension on Chrome for browsing on a protected VPN? Is it a thing or a scam?

    ELT Battery

Regs require the battery change to be documented in the logs and on the ELT unit itself. It doesn't require a licensed mechanic to do it. https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_91-44A_CHG-1.pdf

    Alaska Airlines buying Hawaiian Airlines

Alaska's offer includes assuming $900 million of Hawaiian's debt. That should make a lot of creditors happy.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

Ahh. Not like Clevelands. I’d still have used Nord-Locks there. Read the tech.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

No reason for lock washers there. Nylocks on the other end do the work. Certainly no need for safety wire, either. The nuts are the critical part. Wiring the bolt heads is useless.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

For the rotors? Nylocks. Calipers? Flat washers under the bolt heads. I don't know anyone who safeties caliper bolts. Preflight item.

    Self-locking screws reusable?

Nordlock washers solve the problem, and they are reusable.

    Battery or Both

With an ammeter it’s pretty darn simple to confirm the alternator is working. The only switch I keep off until after startup is the radio master, and that only in my Cessna. My Cub has a G3X that’s powered through an IBBS backup. I turn the radio master on prior to startup in that plane so the...
