    Cold Start Screw up?

If the cylinders are cold enough to concern you? Prime for the temps (cold requires more prime) and pull the prop through several times to distribute the fuel and give it time to vaporize. Exactly what we do when hand-propping. It works in cold weather for cold cylinders and weak batteries, too.

    Cold Start Screw up?

If you frost the plugs you’ll know it because it stops firing, and just spins. What’s next? The only solution is to heat the engine, and it takes longer to correct it than preheating would have taken to prevent it.

    Cold Start Screw up?

You should. Cylinders work best and last longer when approaching 400* in normal ops. Cooler isn't always better. PS- Continental says >460* is overheating. Lycoming says >500*.

    Cold Start Screw up?

I think internetters should just agree to preheat to 350* CHT and 180* oil temp before considering engine start. To an engine that operates at those temps? 70* is cold. Forget about what the engine manufacturers say. The internet knows what's best!

    Want To Buy Engine dehumidifier

Build one. So simple. Read through this thread on Supercub.org. I built two using parts from Anazon. Cheap, easy, and VERY effective. https://www.supercub.org/forum/showthread.php?58536-Engine-Dehydrator

    Cold Start Screw up?

Life-long Alaskan. I preheat primarily to ease the stress on the starter, which assures the engine will spin and start. On days when I don't have time? I go by the manufacturer's published limits. FWIW I don't even consider preheat until below 25*. And then because I'll have other pre-flight...

    0-360 engine question

Anchorage area? What type is the plane? Hangars don't help with occasional use corrosion but it's a total crapshoot why some engines rust and some don't. You'll need to accept that there's always a risk when buying a plane. Roll the dice or don't. There's no sure answer. I bought an 0-320 from...

Is the data plate the aircraft?

I built a brand new PA-12 about 15 years ago. The only used parts were a spar and a couple of wing ribs and those didn't come from the original -12. I swapped the data plate to the new PMA airframe. Perfectly legal. Then I sold the pre-rebuild logbooks for $4K. Why anyone would pay that for them...

    Treat oil leaks seriously

Pressure cowls make locating small oil leaks very difficult. Every situation is different. Use your judgement, and apparently be prepared to be judged.

Fuel Injection Servo Friction, Effort to Move?

Please give us a follow-up when you get this resolved. I’m always interested in outcomes. That’s where we all get an opportunity to learn. Sounds like a fun plane. What prop? My IO-390 spins a Whirl Wind constant speed STOL prop on my exp Supercub. Like you said, there’s no lack of power!

Fuel Injection Servo Friction, Effort to Move?

My API servo’s throttle arm moves smoothly with very little resistance/effort. I see a Silver Hawk servo in the pic. I have no hands-on with that one. Airflow Performance is a great resource for fuel injection systems, including RSA Bendix. It may be worth your time to ask an expert.

Cessna 172 Full Flaps Suddenly on Final

Without adding power? Initially it’ll climb but it’ll slow rapidly and descend, assuming the pilot does some of that pilot ****. Cessnas with full flaps require the pilot to push the nose down to maintain airspeed. In your example question all you’d need to do is re-trim the airplane.

    PA-28 Master cylinder leaking

Blow a master while taxiing between rows of planes and you'll never take your brakes for granted again. Spoken from experience!

    PA-28 Master cylinder leaking

Brake masters are probably the worst maintained major component in GA airplanes. When you rebuild one you’ll recognize how bad the other one is. Rebuild both sides.

    Dupont Imron paint

Axalta was a re-branding due to a corporate ownership change. Same paints, but paints have evolved. I presume you’re trying to match a single stage Imron? Be specific when you contact a paint supplier. When you do buy paint, get enough to have some touchup paint for future use. The color...

    I hate Ticketmaster

$100 for two tickets? Cheap concert! Ticketmaster works great for me. WAY BETTER than the old days of paper tickets. They emailed my Eagles/Steely Dan tickets and I loaded them into my iPhone wallet. Just like I do for F-1, Moto GP, concerts, games…. So simple!
