    Tractor Woes

I was bush hogging with a 9N when I was about 11 years old. I currently have a 2N. I'd like to have a newer tractor, but the N series seems to do all that I ask of it. From cutting grass, to plowing, moving dirt, grading roads, and pulling engines from cars.

    Replacing truck, need opinions

Do you need a four door pickup? You can get a full size single cab, which would be about the size of a mid size four door, and be able to carry more with the tailgate closed. Of course you'll probably have to order a new one, but would probably cost less than the four door of any size used...

Tires: how old is too old?

I replaced my tires a few months ago. I kept the old tires and tubes. The tires were pretty well cracked, but far from "seeing the air" in them. They'll do in a pinch. Back in the day, if we replaced tire and tube every time we had a flat when spraying mesquite, we'd go broke. ;) I kept a...

Today's "gas cans" - seem to be a joke

Metal gas cans will allways be available. It's federally mandated. Don't believe me? Just let OSHA show up at the jobsite and find a plastic fuel can, They will quickly educate you as to the error of your ways.

    Paint colors and safety

I would steer clear of greens, and bright whites. An Off white would be more visible against the sky when viewed from below, over bright white, and also against the earth when viewed from above. Secondary colors could include belly of a darker color. But really, you should go with whatever...

    Your Dumbest Benign Moment

Will an O300 172 climb with 40 degrees of flaps? Why yes it will. provided you grab the seat and lift it up. Student pilot, post solo, in the pattern doing T&Gs. Landed with full flaps, hit "up" on the flap switch, poured the coal to it, and took off. Broke ground way too soon, and was at an...

Installing an Amatuer Radio in a certificated aircraft

I've got an Azden 2000 installed, and run through audio panel, with 2m antenna on the underneath. I'd like to install a 20m rig, using the ADF sense antenna as a driven element with the airframe as counterpoise.

I guess the folks that don't want to "burp" the Rotax, also wouldn't want to get their MES in a Goose, or a Beech 18.

    Replacement Suggestions for King KX-155

Mabe $100 total for wire, connectors, etc. I have experience in electronics, and avionics installation, and work with an A&P/IA who is confident in my work, inspects, and signs the logs. YMMV
