    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Some British friends sent me one of these years ago for the 4th. A year before they had come to a 4th party on our boat and my wife had them bring the ice for the beer. Great people with a good sense of humor.

We laughed our a...... off with the Nor Cal controller today

Not too long after the PBI tower controller fell asleep with his shoes off and cleaning his gun in 1993. I rode in a Tiger Moth that had that airspeed indicator. It appeared to work well.

    Failing spark plug?

I have had more spark plug leads go bad than spark plugs. I will say when a lead went bad it did not fix its self.

    Rental car woes

I am based at Million Air ADS and they have switched back to Hertz after using Go for several years. At EDC Avis has been cheaper even though Go has a location there. Not a fan of Go.

    Rental car insurance

25 years ago my rental car was damaged while on a work trip. When I called AMEX they wanted my personal car insurance information. Come to find out AMEX would only cover a small amount of what my personal car insurance would not cover. I would not give out my personal insurance information and...

    Quick back to back approaches…..Normal?

I mostly agree. Sometimes looking at the plate first will help you find the correct IAF to load for the new approach. Other than looking at the plate, forget about the iPad.

    Quick back to back approaches…..Normal?

I see no problem changing to a LOC app if you lose GS. If you are below LOC mins, and lose GS, you would do the same thing as on a ILS, go missed.

    Transporting your firearm

Funny pre 9/11 story. We had a US Senator on board for a hunting trip from PUO-DCA. Senator needed to catch a flight, so I go with him to help carry the guns and bags. FBO drives us up to a jetway and we are carrying guns back up to the check-in counter through a secure area, no one stopped us...

The two happiest days of a pilot...

This morning I handed the keys over to the new owner of my 41 foot sailboat, it was a sad day for us. We had owned it for over 25 years and sailed it from Florida to the eastern Caribbean, Venezuela, Bonaire, Curacao and then Houston. That took 5 years and then we lived on it for another 4...

    Water Pressure on Undeveloped Land

Back in the 80's and 90's I worked for a rural water system and that would go against our rules. Most of our water mains were put together with rubber seals that would pull in any water, around the water main, if suction was applied. Better idea is to install a holding tank that is feed from...

How much should I tip my CFI?

I can only remember getting one tip when I was instructing. Student and his wife took me and my girlfriend, later wife, to an upscale restaurant after student passed his private. This happened in the mid 80's and we stayed in simi contact for decades, last saw him about 12 years ago. Just heard...

Does the Citation ISP (CE501) require a Single Pilot Exemption/Waiver?

When I go to recurrent, I leave with my new exemption, 61.58 signoff and they ask me if I want a FAR 61.43(b)(2) signoff so that I can fly a 501 or 551 single pilot.

Does the Citation ISP (CE501) require a Single Pilot Exemption/Waiver?

@RussR you never know. When I got out of the CE500's in the 80's I did not think I would fly them again. Early 2007 I took this job, flying an Ultra, now at age 61 it has turned into a nice simi-retirement job.
