    Given your stated choices, just get a 182 with a decent panel. There’s very little reason you “need” a 206 or 210 over a 182. The 182 will still fit four normal size people and just about anything you can stuff in it. And it’ll do it on 12GPH with insurance costs that won’t break you...

    Just be safe. Don't screw with the weather and you'll have eliminated a lot of scenarios that kill people in small airplanes.

    I suppose the thought is that you are more likely to have an engine failure goosing it at full power to get off a 5,000 foot runway than if you ran cruise power to get off the ground. Interesting I guess.

    206 pros & cons

    You are going to have way more options with a 182 as more are on the used market. Cheaper to maintain and it'll still haul just about everything you can stuff in it. The 206 is no bigger inside for the pilot than the 182. 130 knots on 12GPH is typical and that's better on the wallet than 16GPH...
