    New case against flight tracking

I bet it won't be after somebody actually tries it.

    New case against flight tracking

What a low level this country has descended to, thinking you're entitled to private information. I guess it isn't just lawyers who've lost their moral compass.

Why do they say "Anyone can learn how to fly"?

    It's "Any Buddy can fly..."

    Circling approach to crossing runway…

This, except the "rule" isn't "towards the airport", it's towards the landing runway. So, if you are above the specified 1,000 ft you could simply head southeast across the landing runway to join the radial. Imo. See par 5-4-21.c. https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/media/aim.pdf#page=378

Bonanza V35B down Angwin CA (2O3) fatal

At least two witnesses say they had a prop strike and couldn't climb: http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2021/07/beechcraft-v35b-bonanza-fatal-accident.html?showComment=1626760413768#c752429014286533331

Daughter wants a fun car, dad wants something more practical.

Funny you asked. I recently bought a used 2020 Chevy Spark LS from somebody desperate to get rid of it because he lost his license due to a medical condition. I couldn't pass up the deal. It has a continuous velocity variable transmission that is super smooth and gives me around 40 MPG on the...

Beechcraft Baron 55 down in Leyden MA, triple fatal

Did you read the report? Very interesting if you key on certain facts. Doesn't look like a pilot induced problem to me: "A witness heard a “pop” sound, and another witness heard an unusual engine sound; ... the airplane began to slow about that time, ... The airplane then began a right turn...

Beechcraft Baron 55 down in Leyden MA, triple fatal

This Vmc simulator for a generic light twin, by creator and narrator Prof. (Emeritus) Les Kumpula, of Embry-Riddle, shows how to stay alive in a twin. It should open near the end for those who only are interested in the "how" not the "why". My personal advice is to keep the nose and wings near...

I'm wondering now which would give you a better whip stall — gold in the nose or tail?

Beechcraft Baron 55 down in Leyden MA, triple fatal

Pretty easy for me to imagine: With lots of thrust in a steep attitude, the engines are lifting the weight to a considerable degree which lowers the stall speed to a level the controls may not have the airflow to do much good. Not to mention as it falls through at the break, the AoA will rapidly...

You'd rather fly with one that never tried?

Beechcraft Baron 55 down in Leyden MA, triple fatal

Ask yourself if you'd rather be a passenger in a twin flown by somebody who has actually demonstrated the skills in a real plane, or someone who hasn't.

    Am I being unreasonable?

Well, there ya go... He doesn't have much respect for the way you do things. Probably thinks you take too much time, are a stubborn slow learner and is trying to show you how things should be done. Might even be trying to save you money by expediting ground operations for you. You will never...

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

IIRC, the argument was that it would go out of round due to the wear on the bearings. :dunno:

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

When I got out of the service I got a job with an AI who was in the process of overhauling a Continental from a Bonanza. Every day, he'd walk over to the split case and study it rather than assemble the thing. "Something just don't look right," he said. Finally, he figures it out — "The webbing...

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

So, how do they run-in AGE equipment with aircraft engines installed? Just sayin'... :) I knew an old Texan who won a contract to overhaul AGE equipment for the Air Force because the previous contractor's engines burned too much oil. All he did different was run 'em in on the ground with a club...

Finally changing engine at 3500 SMOH

I would really like to know the condition of the crank and camshaft upon teardown. Is this something you can find out and would you post the results here? The flight school I used to work for felt that exceeding the recommended overhaul period would result in the need to buy a new crankshaft...
