    ADHD+THC

Without trying to enter the fray on anything else here, I just want to point out that this is not "the NIH thinks". This NIH website indexes many many life science journals, and the articles here are not written or endorsed by the NIH. This particular article was written by researchers in Brazil...

IFR in a different category question

Yes. Oddly enough, I've been handed off to a controller on an IFR flight plan, then canceled IFR, then requested a new IFR clearance (it was a whole "can I stay out of turbulence better VFR; okay I guess maybe not, let's try to get above" type situation). And even though that controller...

    ....

As others have said, if you don't have any issues with the medical, the only reason to get sport pilot is if you really need to reach "a finish line" with limited time or money. The hardest part of both SP and PPL training is learning to take off, fly, and land safely and pointed in the right...

    ...

I was under the impression (though never looked myself) that banks don't generally write 30-year notes on depreciating assets. I thought you were looking at more like a 5-10 year loan on a plane, 15 at the outside. But I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong; maybe new planes are different...

IFR out of airports with no IAP

Depends how you want to count. I came down to the Durham in 2008 for med school (finished my PPL in college at Penn State) and rented from / started IFR training with Paul Hesse, who was based at Lake Ridge at the time. Left in 2010 to do a PhD that had me traveling between England (no flying...

IFR out of airports with no IAP

Not sure if I ever did it or not (I think once?) but I would fly out of 8NC8 under an IFR flight plan under MVFR or "high IFR" conditions. Not much around to hit, assuming you maintain a climb gradient. For me, the issue is less to do with "how do you keep clear of obstacles" -- if you clear...

Best location/school for accelerated training without a car?

Are you looking for a big city to live in and have fun without a car while flight training, or are you just looking to move somewhere and knock out the training without a car in 1-2 months? Both you and others are bringing up cities where you could commute to the airport. But I thought there...

    Flight Club Expenses Apps?

Hi all, Anyone use / recommend an app to keep track of very basic flight club finances? We have 3-4 owners on a single piston plane (no note) which we generally run with a wet rate. We all pay that rate, deduct fuel, and then at the end of each year or so, tally up expenses and divide the...

Class 1 Medical Certificate on Review Healthy Young Adult

Nothing a little gabapentin won't smooth over.

Class 1 Medical Certificate on Review Healthy Young Adult

Gabapentin does many things, including control nerve pain, which is why it is used for (diabetic and other) neuropathy. It has a slight sedative effect in high / acute doses, so it's not routinely used as an anxiolytic, but it's not out of the ballpark. All that said, my best guess as to what...

    Older pilots and basic med

I mean, yes, exactly. Insurance is a pretty hard business to try to screw the customer over in, because it's a pure risk and margin business, so it's incredibly easy for somebody else to "jump in" to the market space if you're trying to screw over a customer base. If the medical requirement for...

    Callout Fee

Agreeing with (it seems like just about) everyone here that: a) It's reasonable to call a charge-out at 8pm on a Sunday. Maybe the employee is a salaried city employee. In that case, I'd be very interested to see if his employment agreement includes 24/7 call or not. I'm guessing not. b) It's...

PPL training in Europe but flying in the US

To be fair, here in the USA we don't use Class F. Of course, neither do most other countries. (And complicating matters, Canada calls special use airspace "Class F," which has nothing to do with ICAO Class F.)

Florida to DC; where to stop?

I have. Easy self-service. I forget whether the price is reasonable or not.

    Biannual flight reviews...

ha, teach me to read two threads at once. Of course you’re right re flight reviews. Curious how you come to the BasicMed / maintenance conclusion? Because I would like to arrive there as well

    Biannual flight reviews...

§61.23(a)(3)(i) seems to disagree: with enumerated exceptions. Unless I'm misreading this, that means performing preventive maintenance under §43.3(g) / §43.7(f) requires a medical certificate. Unless there's some way of reading that section to not consider preventive maintenance and return to...

    Need your vote plz

For a quick stop or a fuel stop where there are other airports (with fuel) around, ForeFlight only. For an overnight stop at a new place, or a fuel stop for which arriving to find they don't have fuel is going to involve a phone call and a lot of waiting, airport website followed by a phone call.

    Which handle pulled?

Can't help that banned (and otherwise deleted?) users are noted as "Ejection Handle Pulled" in their experience snippet (does it have a real name?) Seems like "BRS Handle Pulled" is more apt? Just a thought.
