Wings of Hope Plane Raffle 2021

None of that is going to make it any more comfortable than the 172 that it is (I've always found them a bit cramped in the front) or able to perform any better than the 172 that it is. Don't get me wrong, I'd be ecstatic to win it, but I'd probably sell it immediately if I did.

Why are ramp checks allowed when random traffic stops are not?

DOT enforcement can and does roll into rest areas unannounced and conduct random roadside inspections on trucks and their drivers that are parked there.

    Banner Towing Stories

Once had a rope break while crossing over a neighborhood at 800AGL. I was running late getting set up and the guy helping me pointed out that the tow rope had just slightest bit of fraying right at the knot where the loop connected. I looked at it and said ah its not that bad and I don't really...

    DIY gas powered tug

Roger that. Its definitely a skill that takes time to learn and get comfortable with. I learned on 737's but those are actually easier than moving lighter stuff to be honest.

    DIY gas powered tug

Put the hitch on the front of the mower. Moving a plane with your back to it is an invitation for repair bills. Always face the plane as you move it.

    Engine out at night

Tree trunks are at the bottom, branches are at the top. If you're going to find trees, you're most likely to find branches before you find any trunks. Those branches will help bleed energy as you drop toward the ground. When you find a wire, next stop is the ground with nothing to slow you in...

Tall pilot looking to buy a time building plane

True enough. But the question of why can still make a difference. At one point, the FBO I was working nights at was looking for a new F/O for their King Air so I went upstairs for an interview. I had somewhere north of 1000 hours by then with about 700 or so of it being in the previous 24...

Tall pilot looking to buy a time building plane

This. I used to work nights on the ramp for a large FBO for extra $$$. One night, I got a chance to sit in the front seat of one of their Lears. I squeezed myself into the seat and any desires I'd ever had of moving up to flying biz jets instantly disappeared.

Perhaps not. But the only thing stopping them from redefining it is them.

19 Year Old Woman Begins Attempt Of Solo Around The World Flight

I wish the FAA wasn't so reluctant to allow designs like that here under LSA.

    Lost Logbooks - Flight Requirements?

You have to log time to qualify for checkrides. Once you have what ever certifications you're going to want, you then only need to log enough flights to satisfy currency as far as the FAA is concerned. Now most pilots continue to log every minute of every flight and there are lots of good...

    Lost Logbooks - Flight Requirements?

No need to redo any of it as far as the FAA goes. Once you have the cert, you have the cert. You could pass your checkride on Monday, burn your logbook on Tuesday and go fly on Wednesday with nothing more than your temp airman cert if your pocket. If you want to carry a passenger on Wednesday...

    Can't shake C19

Understand why you might want to post anon given the stigma and judgement and downright ugliness that exists in our country and on this forum right now. Sorry you're going through this, hope you and your spouse find the required care and she gets better soon.

    Post Oshkosh COVID anyone?

Question for you. If my wife asks me if I would like her to make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch and I say 'Absolutely!' Should she take that to mean I want PB&J and only PB&J for lunch for 100% of my remaining lunches I have available on this Earth? Should she take that mean I...

    Post Oshkosh COVID anyone?

It absolutely does prevent replication. What it does not do is prevent replication in 100% of all cases. The same way seatbelts do not save lives in 100% of all car accidents. In both cases though, the amount of prevention afforded makes the risk/reward a no-brainer IMO.

    Thinking about inflatable Kayaks

You wouldn't let poor service from one FBO put you off ever again using any FBO. Why do the same for one Kayak rental?

    Thinking about inflatable Kayaks

We had 13ft plastic kayaks for almost 29 years that we've been very happy with. Very stable boats flat water boats with a good amount of keel. Did a group paddle day once years ago and one of the group brought an inflatable. Her boat sat about twice as high out of the water as every one else's...
