Is Dan Gryder the biggest asset to aviation on youtube?

The video creator can still see them, but viewers can't. YT found that the presence of dislike counters, especially those with non-trivial numbers of dislikes, encouraged people to dislike videos they might otherwise not have reacted to.

MD-87 in flames in Houston field, all occupants apparently evacuated

I drove past the memorial for that crash a couple weeks ago. IIRC there was speculation, if not outright confirmation, that the crew had pulled the circuit breaker for, or otherwise disabled, the configuration warning horn because it often sounded during taxi or something, and was an annoyance...

Plane crashes near home in Greenville, SC

I'm guessing either the cap was left off the oil tank, or the oil filter was loose or double-gasketed.

    Plane into building

Is it possible to release the parking brake on that plane, and not have it *fully* released, only partially set? Seems like they'd have a hell of a time taxiing the plane if it were fully engaged, but I can tell you from experience with cars, partial inadvertent application of the brakes while...

    Scary hang glider incident.

I've heard the phrase "build the plane while you're flying it" but damn

Woman Seriously Injured After A Plane Crashes Into Her Kayak

When I (He/Him, OK?) am being prodded to put my pronouns in my email signatures and messaging avatars, in the spirit of "making people comfortable", while hypocritically being told that nobody should feel compelled to tell you their identity, I'll tell you and your oh-so-humane ilk to bite me...

Woman Seriously Injured After A Plane Crashes Into Her Kayak

I agree 100%, but welcome to the new Woke rules. One should never pre-suppose another's gender identity, comrade.

Dan Gryder is tweaking the NTSB

Any credibility I thought Dan might have had is lost now that I see he carries a Velcro wallet.

Challenger Jet down in Truckee CA 7/26/21

To me, it seems like an unsuccessful yank & bank to get lined up with the runway after overshooting the approach. In this picture, the red circle on the left is where that doorbell camera showed the jet's reflection in the jeep's windshield as it flew overhead just before crashing. The red...

    Cessna 421C Monterey 7/13

Wasn't it just a few years ago that pilots were petitioning to have a notoriously tight-assed controller removed from KMRY? Now the controller can hardly be understood.

    Cessna 421C Monterey 7/13

He crashed it into the back side of the house (the side facing away from the departure path) in a descending right turn. From memory of that airport, a right turn is the last thing you'd want to do departing from that runway because it turns you into the hills, vs the flat land to the left...

    May 21, PA31 down

Reminds me of the carnival-trick bicycle rigged so that the front wheel turns in the opposite direction of the handlebars. NOBODY can ride it successfully except the carnie who runs the hustle, because it's just too hard for people to overpower their innate urge to turn the bars where they want...

Kobe Bryant dead in helicopter crash

It doesn't say that rotary wing aircraft don't qualify as an aircraft, just that they don't qualify as a covered type under the policy coverage for aircraft they operated but did not own.
