Garmin 400 Non Waas--What GPS Approaches Can I Fly?

I found four basic rules for flying GPS without WAAS: Pilots “may file based on a GPS-based IAP at either the destination or the alternate airport, but not at both locations.” Pilots may plan for LNAV or CIRCLING minimums only, unless equipped for baro-VNAV. A preflight RAIM prediction for...

Garmin 400 Non Waas--What GPS Approaches Can I Fly?

VOR, Glideslope...yessir. So, ILS and RNAV...but wondering about LPV at circling mins, etc... For example, the RNAV (GPS) Z RWY 17 for KMTJ has a WAAS in the upper left hand corner of the plate. Does that mean, I must have WAAS for the approach, or can I still fly the approach and use the...

    Instrument written passed!

I know! And I remember the question verbatim because I just starred at it for like 15 mins scratching my head!!! Even with a 20E variation, the answers were still wrong. And even if you reverse engineer the answer, the GPH they give don't jive. I'm ****ed--I could have gotten an 80% :nonod:

    Instrument written passed!

I just took and scored the same...78%, a little disappointed, but I'll get over it. There were 5-6 new questions that I had never seen before (two on supercooled water droplets!)--and one question that was downright wrong (or maybe I am just too thick to see the right answer). Wondering if you...

Garmin 400 not receiving input data on 429 channel #1

Any idea what page in the SETUP I should be looking at? The Setup 1 Page provides access (via menu options) to airspace alarms, CDI scale adjustment, an arrival alarm, units of measure settings, position formats, map datums, and settings for local or UTC time display. The Setup 2 Page...

Garmin 400 not receiving input data on 429 channel #1

Thanks! That's very helpful...I'll put the 400W back and find the setup menu...I looked for it on the 400 (for a minute) and didn't seem to find one so will check a pdf of the manual on how to find SETUP. Thanks again!

Garmin 400 not receiving input data on 429 channel #1

Gents (and lady)... I just swapped out a 400W for a 400. The 400W was my buddy's and we had it in our 182 that we were partnered on. He took the W and put it in his Baron. I got a 400 from an avionics shop and swapped it out...so put the 400 in the 400w tray. I am getting the following...

    Private Pilot Training cost?

As a wise man once told me, "Fuel is the least expensive part of flying."

    Full Flap Full Power Stall

To the OP: I am in Western Colorado and my examiner made me do the same. I had NEVER practiced one before...and it totally threw me for a loop. We went from slow flight at 45mph, full flaps...to FULL POWER, full flaps, stall...it was intense. Totally didn't give it enough right rudder and...

    Altimeter changes

It makes sense, but it's not how the altimeter works. Read that link...pretty cool. And here's a brief description: Flying from a Low to a High: In this case, the barometric pressure is higher at our destination than it is at the airport we just left. Now, as we fly along, the actual...
