    GNC255 Database updates

Yes this 255 was a used unit installed by my avionics shop but I didn’t get the USB cable. I got one from Amazon and had a flash drive, so I was able to update the DB yesterday. It all worked fine. So my 255 is up to date now. Thx everyone.

    GNC255 Database updates

Also what size of flash drive or SD card is required to copy the DB?

    GNC255 Database updates

Will a USB micro B male work? It’s hard to find a micro A anymore. Most cables have the flat D shape for the micro side.

    GNC255 Database updates

I recently got a used GNC255 installed in my panel. I got Garmin to allow me to add the 255 to the rest of my Garmin avionics so I can update the frequency DB. What sort of USB connector do I need to perform this update. What type of USB port does it have? I didn’t get any special USB cables...

    Failed STEC Static Pressure Sensor

understood but I have to assume my local avionics shop (pretty reputable) would have done that before they condemned the sensor. I am surprised a pressure sensor costs that much! Wow!

    Failed STEC Static Pressure Sensor

Correct the head unit was a rebuilt unit but the servos and other electronic components were new. So if the pressure sensor was new do they usually fail every 2 years?

    Failed STEC Static Pressure Sensor

My STEC 55X started porpoising last seek while trying to hold altitude. Two weeks ago the AP was rock steady in altitude. My avionics shop says the static pressure sensor is bad and needs to be replaced to the tune of $1700+! The 55X system was newly installed back in April 2022. So do these...

    Light weight Upholstery Panel Options

I am looking to upgrade the interior of my Navion and I am searching for some options for lighter weight side panels besides the current aluminum panels. I need to put my plane on a diet so cutting weight is highly desirable. I pulled out the rear panel of the baggage compartment and discovered...

Pre flight checking Dual Garmin GPS setup

My Navion has a GTN 650 xi and a GNX 375 plus a Aspen 2000 Pro Max displays. If others have a similar setup I am curious as to how do you preflight the databases and connectivity of each GPS to the Aspen PFD? After the avionics is all powered up and running I go through the checks on the 650...

Need a New iPad Mini 5 Mount

Is there a iPad mini 5 holder that magnetically attaches to a suction cup mount? I currently have a RAM roller mount on a RAM suction cup mounted to the center of my Navion’s windscreen. I want something that I can just grab the iPad and pull it down in front of me to change a setting or bring...

Safe Taxi Settings on a 650xi

Yes I have a mini with GP as well This last we weren’t using the mini to see if we could use just the panel mounted boxes. We were just curious as to how it was supposed to work.I can pull up approach plates on the Aspen or the iPad so that’s not a real issue.

Safe Taxi Settings on a 650xi

I have that feature but you have to bring up the chart by pushing buttons and zooming in. It doesn’t come up automatically as far as I can tell. And you only get the AFD diagram of the airport from what I have seen.

Safe Taxi Settings on a 650xi

I have some questions on the Garmin safe taxi feature. Does it show up on a 650xi screen or is it just a Garmin Pilot feature? If it does come on the 650 are there any user settings that control when it comes on and how large or zoomed in does the screen automatically go to or do you have to...

    Large size Foggles?

I actually got a pair of a foggle type of glasses on Amazon that work well over my eyeglasses. They even come with the handy IFR cheat card. So far they are working well for me.

    STEC 55X Just cratered?

Very possible there are 2 systems. I was told to look for a golden hockey puck thing that had a static line and a single wire coming out of it. I did not find that under my panel so it may be in the aft fuselage. The Navion has 2 static ports on either side of the fuselage about half way back on...

    STEC 55X Just cratered?

Was flying with my CFII to shoot some AP coupled approaches yesterday. While cruising down to the airport we were shooting the approaches we leveled off at 2000’ and engaged the HDG and then the ALT modes. Heading seemed to be steady but the plane immediately pitched over and startied diving. We...

    Narco MK-12D Xmit issue?

Thx for the response. We wondered about a reception hole. I just had a comm antenna and coax ending replaced last month. Last month I had no issue talking on 134.45. I will try again this week to see if it’s still an issue. I got new radios coming next year but I want to be able to continue my...

    Narco MK-12D Xmit issue?

Is it possible for an old MK-12D to lose Xmit capability in a certain frequency range? Last week on a IFR training flight we tried to contact Houston Approach on 134.45 several times on both of my MK-12Ds and got crickets. Not even a standby even though we could hear them chatting away with...

Looking for Suggestions on Replacing an old Narco MK-12D

Good point. I see many planes with a 750 & 650 setups so I figured a backup GPS would be a good option. Currently the top Narco is connected to the Aspens and the lower unit is connected to its original CDI to the left of the Aspens. The Aspen can take 2 digital Nav inputs but only 1 analog...
