Bumping this, I'm interested in this too. The only complex plane around here for rent, require 25 hours before solo flight, and at $210/hour plus another $40 for the instructor, it's looking cheaper to do an accelerated course.

The best part of the story is that the engine in the boat the cops were using to "patrol" the lake, quit when they were trying to get to the plane and they had to row out there. Hilarious
