I agree with Dave. Buy what you think will be your forever plane and learn and get your ratings in it , I think someone who got there instrument rating and has 2 or 3 hundred hours in a 310 is much safer than a guy who did it all in a 172 then bought the big plane , you can buy a real nice 310...
