    [NA] Whole house water softeners

One of best things I’ve ever spent money on. It tastes like water, but man showers feel better! And toilets stay white linger, dishes come out cleaner. I love mine. Size it right and error on too big than too small would be my opinion.

Sump heater and insulated cowl cover snd I get cylinders I’ve laser temped in the 80’s in the middle of MI winter…

How helpful would this be on a cold start?

My guess is it would be like bringing a knife to a gun fight… a sump pad, even an approved one- is cheap… don’t short yourself with preheat unless you really love your local engine overhauler. Get $150 sump pad and wrap that girl up w blankets if ya don’t have a cowl cover… 4-6 hours later I...

The best thing about older aircraft...

absolutly! You could do some blends w different versions- so Evening at Oshkosh stale 80/87 with essence of aeroshell” and such… heck you know we all would be spraying it on ourselves! :)

The best thing about older aircraft...

The best part about old planes. the simplicity and the smell. I work with technology all day at work, at the airport I’m happy to check out from that- have 4 cylinders, a carb, two mags and some control surfaces be all the more I need. And they just smell right. I hate it at annual my...

Electric aircraft - adapt this technology?

I’ll never bet against American Ingenuity to pull it off. Never a guarantee but I won’t bet against it! I don’t want to be one of those folks that said Fords horseless carriage won’t catch on…

    Rules for using MOGAS?

tgats a great idea! I’m going to steal it. I buy some at the end of each season for any equipment that’s going into storage but may as well do as you do along the way…. Or dump it in my 59 dodge pickup

    A Clean Engine Compartment

Wow! Open mouth insert foot! We looked at ingredients on package. No mention… formula has changed too- as I just went n looked at a tub- when we read it it had lanolin in it… now it doesn’t list lanolin. But nor does it mention the lye. guess I got a case of hand cleaner gor the home garage...

    A Clean Engine Compartment

This works insanely well! From belly of the beast- to the engine compartment. My A&P friend snd I looked at ingredients and nothing corrosive (not true of the same brands degreaser- hand cleaner only) primary reason I think it works so well is the “goo” factor. It holds in place a while it...

    Carb Heat in rain

I fly a small continental- a model known to make ice better than a fridigidaire. I’ve had this same wonder OP. Not conserned about ingestion but the idea of air going through a wet sponge out front is extra humid now…. I always pull carb heat periodically in cruise, leave it out 20 seconds...

Filing a Complaint With Local FSDO?

I aim to visually inspect all work done on my plane. My plane gets dropped off gor annual with cowl removed- I will re-cowl it. I want to see it… I do my own detailed look over before and after work is done. Though my IA doesn’t do owner assisted annuals he knows I’ll be in several times...

    Spot light for grill question:

Typically with LEDs lack of draw there’s no need for staying with equivalent- up those watts equivalents as the draw will be null. but I’m w the rest on one light makes things shadow-ey at best…but I’d buy the biggest led I cud and light it up like noon! my hangar had 2-250w bulbs incadecent-...

Another wide vs close pattern question

Most places I go are not busy- close and tight as why lumber around - let’s get landed baby! But if it’s busy just do as the romans do.

    Right turning tendencies

well said! my TW instructor told me from day one, it’s super simple, “you do whatever ya gotta do to keep the pointy end that way” as he would point out the far end of the airport :)

    Daily Pic

fishing trip last week with my son to Lake Of The Woods in Minnesota. 10 planes of “flying family”, howling winds, daily walleye limits, and great times. We left central Michigan and flew accross the Upper peninsula and on the way home went down and around Chicago. Great trip, great times.

Do landings just click one day?

thats great! Then you “got it” no matter how many hours it takes! 14 or 24 or 44. People that give up don’t have what it takes and people that grind it out no matter what it takes will be fine pilots. This goes for once you have your ticket too! If Shtuff goes sideways when flying one day-...

Do landings just click one day?

Depends, I think some slowly get it and others it happens in a moment. From that moment on you’ll still have ups n downs but I for one did have a single landing where it all came together and after that I was actually able to really work on em. It took me 23 hrs to solo… I had a fear of the...
