ADS-B Tracking Data Clears An Ag Pilot Of FAA Charges

Re-assigned??? The guy was re-assigned? Re-assignment is not a good policy, I was once part of a large organization that used/uses Re-assignment as solution for bad actors- it’s been an utter failure. I left in part because of such a policy. The organizations headquarters are in a city-state in...

No crankshafts available for 18-24 months

absolutly! He’s just a loud voice getting the message out is all. As we all know lots of folks think that tbo figure is the 11th commandment. i love it though that there’s as many ways to make a bucks as sand on a beach given some creativity and drive….

No crankshafts available for 18-24 months

yea I fly behind both- not in same way you do or the hours but my personal plane is has an ol c-85 w the 0-200 Frankenstein STC and then the lycoming in the club plane. I’m sure I’ll need cylinders on the continental one of these days- I don’t think I’ll get 800 more hours out of Em but the...

No crankshafts available for 18-24 months

This is going to make a lot of people re-listen to mike bush on overhauling on condition not tbo…. That’s what we are doing w my club 172 w a 360. She’s 100 hours out but compressions high 70s, oil use is negligible, we’re going to add a full fledged engine monitor and we’re borescoping each oil change.

Is rotation closer to Vx, than Vr necessarily a bad idea?

it’s not really tongue in cheek… I think it wud be better to teach the feel of flying- not “pull yoke at 67.5 kt”. even a nosewheel once rolling w just a slight amount of back pressure will fly on its own when it’s ready. Yes on a nosewheel one has the freedom to look at airspeed I understand...

Is rotation closer to Vx, than Vr necessarily a bad idea?

valid point- but I do think we often train folks to think with more attention focused on staining at instruments while training them to be visual pilots…. I’m not saying don’t look at airspeed in a trainer but also feel too much attention put on instrument precision than just learning the feel...

Is rotation closer to Vx, than Vr necessarily a bad idea?

You nosewheel folks looking at instruments on the ground…. I tell ya… I put the bird in a flying attitude and she leaves terra ferma once ready…, not sure the exact speed I’m going…. Once airborn I’ll glance…

    What happened to Southwest?

Before anyone melts down- I am 100% pro-capitalism. BUT one of the weaknesses of capitalism is it can reward short term greed for a while… Again-not championing scrapping capitalism- but there’s no economic model that exists that doesn’t have weaknesses, and this is one of our weeknesses...

    Icing is a b****

Only had ice once, I’m a vfr pilot and was on the ground. We were going to do a funeral flyover… we had a dozen planes fired up, and a totally unpredicted rain shower of freezing rain began… it was a very small pop up…I had 1/4” on the c150 my son and I were in! I hit the mike n said I was...

NTSB Comments on Ethiopian 737 MAX investigation

pretty spot on. The points that they may not be trained like US pilots isn’t wron in and of itself- but no pilot should be handed a plane that wants to crash itself! we would howl up a storm against an IA tgat returned our spam can out of annual in such a condition!

Rockwell Lands With no Nosegear Video

I bet that’s more common than not… One may want to add that to bottom of all emergency checklists, in event ya have the time to go through one just maybe having said/read “exit aircraft immediately once stopped” might -keyword might, get us in the mindset to do that. Not saying we would read...

    Labor shortages are annoying.

That’s the goal the airlines and FAA set and have vastly improved air safety since that was the goal. Not sure they should set the goal as 125 deaths. Why not have the goal high, then if ya miss it’s a better result than missing a less lofty goal…

    Labor shortages are annoying.

valid point and Absolutely not! My greater point is a laborer shortage is far less painful than job shortage. A job shortage is a much faster shortcut to mass poverty than a labor shortage. But I’d rather have a delay in products and service than mass unemployment. As a business owner I’m...

    Labor shortages are annoying.

Labor shortages are a pain, absolutely, however it amounts to a first world annoyance. when the opposite is true there are breadlines. Not enough jobs for laborers cause real pain, foreclosures, hunger and/or higher need for public assistance to avoid such. I tell my fellow business owners...

    Corrosion risk and location history

Florida definitely is cause for concern, but not necessarily a reason for a "no-go" but make sure the inspection is thorough. I have a friend who bought one site unseen in Florida and he ended up having bought an engine, some old worthless avionics and a pile of scrap aluminum once the wing...
