    coordinated/linked controls

Yea I wasn’t used to that- I can see how over time can make the feet a lil lazy, coming out Of tailwheel I’m used to dancing on the ground but even in the air my old vintage bird needed to be lead with rudder.. to now see the ball centered doing little to nothing seems a bit foreign at the...

    GRR and vicinity GA scene?

Welcome to West Michigan... Yea I'm hangared at 6d6 with my personal plane(s)... I'm actually in the club out of GRR that EdFred mentioned his mechanic does the maintenance on I would bet. It's a great club if you are looking for a club to get into, and I believe a couple shares are...

Need a good pre-buy in Greensboro NC

I think probably a full pre-buy, and possibly have it turned into an annual being its due in a couple months anyway. Pics and logbooks look good. The logs are immaculate... I really appreciate it, had it been tougher to get good info from seller and I was still interested I would for sure...

Aero Engines of Winchester, VA reveiws?

2016... I see on a Yelp Review from 2016 someone referenced Tom, so likely he was around when my possible new to me engine was overhauled... Want a second 140? I am probably going to have to sell mine if I buy the Mooney...

Need a good pre-buy in Greensboro NC

I'm possibly buying a plane in Greensboro NC. It's a Mooney M20F. Do any of you ladies or gents have a good line on a good mechanic in the area to take a look at it for me before I travel there?

Aero Engines of Winchester, VA reveiws?

I'm looking at a bird which had a major OH at Aero Engines of Winchester, Va. Has anyone here worked with them for the better or worse? Their logbook entry is very professional and well laid out, far more than many I've seen. But figured I'd ask "yawl" if ya ever worked with them?

    Bonanza V-Tail or Mooney M20x or ??

I was in similiar boat OP. Im looking to upgrade from my beloved Cessna 140. She’s been great but it’s time for more seats and speed. I beleive we have settled in on a Mooney. We’re thinking F model for the extra room. But im 5’9” and the wife is 5’5” we went and sat in a C, and rear seat...

    NA. 2x6 decking vs 5/4

Myra were doing it ourselves- first reason is I’m cheap, second is no ones work holds up to my scrutiny :). I used to do this stuff with a good builder when I was young and every time I hire something done I end up furious- so we just do all possible ourselves.

    NA. 2x6 decking vs 5/4

Myra I was thinking of hitting them with a router, but the points about knots makes sense too that’s a win for 5/4… I’ll have to mull this over and check out trex

    NA. 2x6 decking vs 5/4

So I have to build a new deck out front, my moms moving in and will need a ramp. As I built it on menards online deck builder it gave me option of 2x6 or 5/4 decking. 2x6 was LESS EXPENSIVE! Not by a ton but a hundred or so less dollars. To me it seems like an upgrade, any downsides you...

Talk me out of a c170

interesting I thought it was same basic gear- but yes a 360 would be great! I’m in a club w a 172 w the 0-360 and it’s the right engine for the airframe- gotta think it would be the same for the venerable 170… the Skyhawk with one is true 4 adult bird- balance is a bit tough but weights not a...

    Aircraft Financing Company Recomendations

im waiting, as I’m ready to run in while others run out as my non-stuffed shirt investment guy puts it…! A clearance sale on stocks? This part Dutch boy will be all sorts a geeked . It’s one of the reasons I want to use opm on the bird and keep my powder dry :)

Talk me out of a c170

I love her little sister the 140, flown mine all over the country including Johnson creek Idaho twice. Same gear basically sure it’s springy- it’s just fine. ive flown behind 0-300s a few times, no power beast but dang is it a smooth running engine! my bird has fanfic wings- big deal- they...

Next truck question, long distance purchases

yes! It really can be that simple! we live in MI and bought a classic 1950 dodge truck in Colorado last summer. Shipping was very reasonable -$1000 for door step to door step… seemed very reasonable. we will do it again as we buy value vehicles now! I’m a cheapskate w 4wheel vehicles. Living...

    Aircraft Financing Company Recomendations

Not terrible options but I’d rather not. I bought my c140 on a heloc, and paid it off rather quick and it worked well… but that was 20k and I’m squeamish to heloc for any more than that… there was once in my life (long ago now luckily) that I fell flat on my face- all the way… went out of biz...

    Aircraft Financing Company Recomendations

im in communication with them… . No… add a “2”… though a 170 isn’t off the table. If I get the Skyhawk I’m going to work towards keeping the 140 too. Don’t want to forget how to use my feet! thinking of a Skyhawk, we have a 6&7 yr old besides the big kids but the big ones don’t hang w us...

    Aircraft Financing Company Recomendations

I possibly am going to be in need of, more accurately "want of" some aircraft financing. No lectures please on not financing toys, I could buy it outright but would rather not at least right away.... Looking for about a 70k loan or so. I put in a request to talk to someone at AOPA...

    Tach and hobbs

My understanding is tach hours is what ya use for maintenance and Hobbs is what FBOs use for rentals- not all of us even have a Hobbs… I don’t..
