    College football 2024

I can’t wait for the season to start, first game this Friday for us. I’m the biggest non-football fan you’ve ever met- yet I hold season tickets to MSU football. My boy is a trumpet section leader for The MSU Marching bad. So I love football season :) The Family with him last year opening...

Just Bought Land On Paved Runway :)

Oh the UP is next on the list to buy dirt in- there or Beaver Island. :) We view this place as a homebase to explore all of N Michigan both peninsulas and the islands :). Well minus Mackinaw island- no interest in going there besides maybe for a food stop as it’s just a jammed tourist trap...

    [NA] buying land

Watching for good input. My wife and I are considering doing similiar but in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or maybe one of our islands. We recently bought 4 acres in Northern Lower peninsula but now want a big chunk somewhere- our 4 acres is going to get a nice cabin- big dirt would likely...

VFR in the mountains - a cautionary tale, especially for us flatlanders

They sure are! I flew my lil Cessna 140 all over the country, I’ve got the Mooney around the east half of the US a couple times and you’re right- you learn so much more “out on the road” than doing repeated tours of your home county! :)

Just Bought Land On Paved Runway :)

There is an HOA, its a huge development size wise, so doesn't have a "development" feel like many in Michigan that are a corn field with a poorly installed road and lots surveyed off, there are more trees than homes anywhere ya go. My property abuts the "common area" of the runway and you can...

Just Bought Land On Paved Runway :)

Just Bought Land On Paved Runway :)

The woods and rivers are over the top as well, there’s several neat islands to visit and the upper peninsula is breathtaking. Will do! Probably won’t break ground till spring. Probably may even skip the hangar for time being as it would just be a weekend or occasional week for now, but we will...

Just Bought Land On Paved Runway :)

Just had to share w my pilot friends here: My wife and I are so excited! We just closed on almost 4 acres right on the runway at 4y4. We plan on building a cabin there in the spring and someday maybe spend significant time there once split custody kiddos are grown. Northern Michigan is...

    Buffing a Wet Wing

I’m new to it to. I’ve been using maguires stuff thus far. Check out auto geek, they have a single stage paint guru that shares on their forum a lot! He’s the one that teaches the meguires 7 soak and it seems to work well. It’s designed to save old single stage paint that looks rough or shot...

    C150 Engine Upgrade

Interesting, My experience was somewhat the opposite, my ol C140 outperformed a 150 in every way. I owned a straight tail 150 for a minute at the same time, the 140 took off shorter, climbed better and cruised faster… both that one and a friend of mines 150 or 152 I forget what his was. Mine...

    Buffing a Wet Wing

Wow! Nice work! Yea mine is dual action not just the random orbital- so w your experience correct me if wrong just on my understanding of equipment: Random orbital- basically worthless besides maybe spreading wax. Dual action- some corrective ability, less than standard circular motion only...

    Buffing a Wet Wing

Looking for any wet wing experts out there. I own a Mooney M20F, for the last year or so. She had sad looking paint. It looks like I'm going to be able to get it to respectable with a lot of Clay Bar work and then a Meguires #7 Soak, where you let the #7 set on the surface for about a day so...

    Custom Checklist

I customize mine in FF, works great. You can drop n drag the order of things and such as ypu tweak it. I did have it set to read me my checklist for my old plane but need to do it for this one. It’s really nice having it spoken to ya, like having a crewmate. I adjusted how I phrased things...

    180 pilots -rfi

I definitely agree go get your tailwheel feet back on grass first… just no reason not to if ya can to get the landing down again. I’m sure it’ll come right back pretty quick…

    Out-Swinging Exterior Doors

I have one on the back door of the house, has a terribly small landing inside going to downstairs or to the right to go in kitchen- so it worked really well swinging it out - so I’d say scenario based but nothing wrong w em at all.

piano keys in cessna 140's, which year models? (and 120's and 170's, etc.)?

An electrical system was optional on the 120, very few without one, at least added by now. But from the factory a 120 could have came with or without one. They are identical airframes, the 140 just had electrical standard, jazzier panel, the rear “D” window and “flaps”. Quotation marks are...
