Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

With something a little less than 2,000 tailwheel landings without a mishap, I am aware of this, but it is still not difficult IMHO. You should be flying the numbers accurately regardless of what you’re flying. It takes a little longer to learn tailwheel, but I just don’t see it as more...

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

LOL! I hate to be the one to cost you a stripe on your epaulet, but I’m afraid that if a dummy like me can fly tailwheel with no history of a ground loop, you need to get out the scissors and also relax your walk.:)

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

As is the same with a tailwheel airplane. It’s not difficult.

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

You, have quite a skill for using about 60 or 80 words for saying the same thing that I said with about a dozen. Have you ever found yourself arguing with a fence post? Geesh!

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

That’s my point. Don’t you think that a different category makes it a more different skill than a simple endorsement?

    Air-to-Air Piper Tri-Pacer

I took a checkride in my 140 many years ago with a DPE that was probably 90 years old and at LEAST 300 pounds. He had seen my plane in the avionics shop at his airport and had a 140 himself. He wanted to fly in it really bad. He said that if he could get in, he would fly with me. It took my...

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

If an endorsement indicates it to be more difficult, then the glider would be more difficult. It requires a completely different checkride and written. Not just an instructor signing it off.

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

I have no glider experience beyond a power loss within very easy reach of a runway. I would have to look to know for sure, but I think my number of tailwheel landings is approaching 2,000. I don’t really understand why tailwheel flying is considered black magic. In fact, I’ve been told by an...

    What's Flying Like in Retirement?

I retired almost 8 years ago. I had been flying my Cessna 140, an IFR plane, for quite a while and still fly it a lot. About six months after retirement I added a Mooney M20C to the fleet then shortly after hurt my shoulder and could no longer handle the Johnson bar gear. Moved on to a mid...

    Identification Quiz

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! This is the only C41 ever built. It was bought by the US government in 1938 and was built with 12 place executive seating and 900HP engines and given C41 as its military designation. It ended up as Hap Arnold’s personal transportation through much of WWII. A...

    Identification Quiz

Yes, it is a trick question. Your answer would appear to be mostly correct on the surface. I’m not trying to embarrass anyone, but after the guesses have run their course, I think everyone will enjoy the explanation. Just good natured fun. It is possible that someone will come up with the...

Iowa Aircraft Registration Fee Increase Proposed

One thing all politicians have in common is that none of them ever saw a tax increase that they didn’t like. It’s very easy to spend someone else’s money.

Stick and rudder will be the same, but you might find flight planning and navigation to be a tad easier.

Will your heirs even want your logbooks?

I think part of the answer hinges on whether or not there are any pilots among your descendents.

What type of equipment do I tell atc that I have?

The guys in Center don’t want to be bothered by the guys and gals below 18,000 so the odds of them asking much of anything are extremely remote.

Student pilot who conned his Gf into buying a tripacer- & killing her in subsequent accident-finally arrested.

The scumbag ”pilot” with the goofy beard is obviously a con artist and a liar. Show him the inside of a jail for a long time before he con’s someone else to their death.
