Great Game. No TV Strike Zone, No Instant Replay, just old school baseball. I also loved the Hot Air Balloon fly-by!

Possible to get IR with GPS only?

True but you still need to do two non-precision approaches using different navaids. So yes you need something in the plane besides a GPS.

    glider peeps....

if you pay anything for it you will overpay. notice the vertical stabilizer is laying over sideways? the tailboom is broken too. It ground looped at some point and hasn't left the trailer since. It might be an ASW-19? Anything can be repaired. There are gifted shops in the country that can...

Help interpreting a regulation for my commercial license.

i do spend a lot of time advising CFI's that if they would just document the specific flight & ground training requirements that are in part 61, this all would go a lot smoother...

Help interpreting a regulation for my commercial license.

most reasonable DPE's would accept that for the intercepting & tracking nav systems requirement. at least, I would.

    Oil Leak C-85

Any noticeable drop on the dipstick? ON my C-85-12F (Cessna 120) the cruise PSI is right around 30 and once warm it will be down in the 10-15 range idling after landing. I run Philips 20W50.

Thinking about a Hot Air Balloon

i'm on my second visit to ABQ and up to 7 flights and 6 hrs and change now. everything ted says echoes my experience. nothing that i learned over almost 20 years of flying airplanes has helped me fly a balloon. i couldn't believe on the first few flights how far behind the aircraft i was when it...

    Commercial cross country requirements

    Checkride Logging

I always mention in the post flight debrief that I am happy to sign the logbook, if they want. usually the satisfactory tests prefer to have me sign, and the unsats prefer not. The flight time is PIC, not dual received. I keep a fillable PDF of a temporary certificate on my laptop (as well as a...

Thinking about a Hot Air Balloon

Airborne Heat is the school that was recommended to me. They offer full service training. They provide balloon, instructor, crew, everything. It's not cheap. $400ish/hr. It is convenient. They are a Part 141 balloon school!

    Commercial Privs and Limits

I do like to pry a little into potential 134.5 stuff. More so because I fly for a Part 135 operator than from any guidance from above though

    Commercial Privs and Limits

I'm not Ryan. But for this DPE, you can expect to talk about 119.1 on the Commercial test and what you can/cant do.

Obtaining IR in a plane without IFR rated GPS

Challenge may be in finding appropriate approaches to do on the dual XC that comply with the Glaser interpretation letter, and having two non-precision and a precision approach you can do on the checkride without GPS info. If you have DME and ADF those "problems" are a lot easier to solve. I...

    Forward Slip Question

it amazes me how many CFI's struggle with just flying the airplane the way the flight manual says.

    SPT vs. Nulite panel lighting

I just finished putting NuLites on most of the 120 instruments. All behind the panel except for Altimeter due to being able to adjust with the cover on the panel. Love em.
