airplane repo is faker than I thought

I heard a podcast interview with Mikey McBryan from Ice Pilots NWT. He said that under Canadian rules, you cannot create a scenario or situation, film it and claim that is "reality". However, there is no restriction about breathlessly reporting an engine out as life threatening. I also had...

The things you learn about family, late in the game

I tried to interview a family friend who had flown Hawker Typhoons in the war, was shot down and was a POW for about 14 months. He would not talk about it, despite my encouragements. Found out parts of the story from others. Many of the veterans will not talk about their experiences. That's...

    normal or not normal?

Incipient spins, spins etc are taught and part of the syllabus in Canada, I did about 10 of them before my flight exam, they were not my favourite part. Turned out that the Flight Examiner asked me to do a spin to the Right in my flight test, I had always done them to the left. Not the best...

Over 60 of us intercepted annually

Thanks...but just in case I'm challenged, is there any place I can read, and maybe print out, to use if I'm told I don't have the same rights?

Over 60 of us intercepted annually

I have a question about all these rights, etc. As a Canadian, what rights apply to me when I am in the USA? Are there differences?

Can someone recommend some good aviation novels?

Just finished this book, in audio form...read by the same guy as Fighter Pilot:Memiors of Robin Olds Both are outstanding books. Higher Call is interesting story about a Lufthansa pilot that was drafted by the Air Force, did not volunteer to fight, but flew over 400 missions because of his...

    Investing in stocks (broker managed?)

Also a good read-Future Babble (Why Expert Predictions Fail-and why we believe them anyway) by Dan Gardner Note that some people need to have an "expert" to follow, so that in the case of a problem, they have someone to blame. It's extremely difficult for most people (pilots) to put the...

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Three women friends, one in a casual relationship, one engaged to be married and one a long-time wife, met for drinks after work. The conversation eventually drifted towards how best to spice up their sex lives. After much discussion, they decided to surprise their men by engaging in some S&M...

    Email from Transport Canada.....

Incompetence knows no boundaries. Next time, PM me, send it to my office, I'll walk it across the border and put it into a USPS box.

What was your most embarrasing situation?

On my tailwheel training, after a particularly bad landing, on a stop and go, had the tower ask me; " Are you okay to continue?" My instructor, the gentleman that he is, said nothing.

    Email from Transport Canada.....

Mail between US and Canada is always slow. Normal snail mail within Canada is within 2-3 days. From Canada to US and vice versa, can take two weeks. My US suppliers get real happy about that. (The check/cheque's in the mail, and truly it is!)

    Email from Transport Canada.....

I beg to differ, I don't think they are "better", I still prefer Transport Canada to FAA, but that's just me.

    Malaysian Airliner missing?

How 'bout this one-"We don't know when specifically it was entered," said Mary Schiavo, a CNN aviation analyst and former inspector general for the U.S. Department of Transportation. So a couple of days ago this "expert" says," if the plane depressurized, the passengers oxygen masks would...

Developing -- KOMO-TV Chopper Down Near Broadcast Studios in Seattle

Saw the coverage on KOMO this morning, right outside their own studio. Had to leave for work before the studio folks had ID'd the helicopter, etc. Would be a gutshot. Very sorry for all.
