    New purchase suggestions!

I still like the Super Viking suggestion. You will need a hangar though, that's one you don't really want to leave sitting out in the sun all the time.

How much will airplane prices drop in 2020?

Why not, do you think? I see demand going down, anyway... you don't think so?

    Arizona Trip Planning Suggestions

Let us know! Second what others have said about density altitude considerations, depending on your airplane -- it's enough of a real thing that it changed what airplane I chose to buy (a 172 was not going to work).

    What is this part of?

I doubt it. I found it over on the right side. Will do, but I'm 90%+ certain it's aluminum. No, not to my knowledge and not that's indicated in the logs. Visual inspection doesn't show any missing rivets or anything else where it looks like it might have come from. I'm suspecting it came from...

    What is this part of?

Yeah, my guess was a rivet also, but I'm not missing any that I can see. It certainly might have come in from outside; my hangar is not exactly well sealed either.

    What is this part of?

Structure, possibly; door or opening mechanism, unlikely, since the door is purely mechanical, I push it sideways on rollers like a train car door. It has no parts this small. :)

How much will airplane prices drop in 2020?

I think, going back to the original question, that probably some pretty good deals are going to be available. I don't have any plans to sell my plane... but if it came down to that or the mortgage, or that and other required bills, or groceries, I would. I suspect there are others who will sell...

    What is this part of?

Also, it's light, very likely aluminum.

    What is this part of?

Any ideas on what this might be part of? I found it on the floor of my hangar today... looks like the end of a 1/8" diameter pin from something. It may not be clear from the pictures, but one end is clearly broken off. I didn't find anything on the airplane that looks like it might have come...

Winter Oil? Do you guys switch to a "Lighter" Oil in the winter?

Aeroshell 100+ year round. But I probably don't get any "winter" by some of your standards. ("Really, it got below freezing *three* times this year?")

    What next... glider, tailwheel?

I don't expect to be able to stay current in either, though that might change if I found them super fun. :-) It's not in my budget to buy either, though, so it seems unlikely. Mostly this would be for the fun to do it and the extra skills and experience.

Aircraft Multi Day Out of State Rental

Have you landed at Catalina before? I have not, but I gather it can be a bit tricky.

    What next... glider, tailwheel?

I'm debating adding something new, for fun and variety and better skills, and I'm mostly debating between getting a glider rating and getting a tailwheel endorsement. I have zero time in either, and places probably about equally (in)convenient to do either. Sooner or later I may well do them...

Aircraft Multi Day Out of State Rental

LA to Vegas is not hard, per se, but I agree that I'm not sure I'd make it my first XC with family after the checkride. There are mountains, and though they are not hugely tall along that route, they are there and they are sections of nowhere good to land, and also sections of potentially...

Fuel Pump On While Maneuvering in Piper Warrior?

Having the electric pump on wouldn't make any difference in this situation...

    Previous owner relationship

Just business. Might have been different if he'd been local, but he was in Long Beach and I'm in Tucson, so pretty much nothing after I took possession of the plane.

    Recommended route Atlanta > Tucson

I don't know the eastern part of this trip, but from west Texas on, yes El Paso and follow the Interstate is easy and simple, and pretty much keeps you over flat ground. Going west, keep El Paso on your left; you'll (obviously) be close to the Mexican border there and you don't want to drift...

    Need Help With Plane Pricing

What I see is a huge ton or hours. How many hours do you have to invest in this project? If the answer is "a lot", and better, "a lot and this looks like lots of fun!" then this might be a cool deal. I can't speak to the value of all this in dollars, but if the seller doesn't know either and...

Possible to Buy Radio Just to Listen???

LiveATC is good, but I also recommend getting a decent handheld. It'll be convenient now for listening, but also useful later. I didn't have one back when I had some interesting radio problems that surfaced intermittently while on flight following with SoCal approach (that was fun) and then...

    I love my Cherokee but..

Eh, I wasn't quite drinking beer yet; still driving after putting the plane away. It looks like I beat you by around 30 minutes. I did veer a bit south of the direct course this time though. :) On the flip side, I probably burned 25-30% more gas than you did.
