Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

I was told the insurance companies, in general will renew an older pilot, but not write one on a new airplane.

Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

I sold my Conquest I to a gentleman that was 76 years old, tons of time including military and airlines, he couldn’t get insured! He had one company offer him coverage at $40 something grand per year!! All because of his age, good pilot, no accidents etc. He hired a pilot for insurance purposes...

    Any economists here?

It’s not usually based on price, it’s based on marketing strategies. In Ted’s case a $70k 1/2 ton truck got .0%, but a $45k 3/4 ton wouldn’t qualify. Demand was higher than supply on 3/4 trucks.

    Any economists here?

The manufacturers sales division pays the finance arm a certain amount per contract in lieu of paying customers a rebate or a dealer incentive. They calculate the average loan length, not term and decide what the dollar amount is to the finance side. Normally you’d see 0% or $XXXX in rebates...

    Glass or steam?

I have been looking at adding glass to my new to me 414, but I’m torn about spending $15K on a refurbished Aspen C-3 unit or 2 units for $22K or just using what’s there now. I’m not sure the resale value will be good with the Aspen units vs the G-600, but whatever I do, I’ve still got a basic...

Greenhorn wants to sell a plane. Use a broker??

I agree, an airplane that is two years out of annual is a huge issue for most buyers. The low time is wonderful, if it’s been upgraded along the way. A non-Ram 414A with old avionics, to me is worth a lot less than a 6000 hour airframe with RAM engines and an updated panel. Bill Barton with...

How do I run power to detached garage?

If you’re permitting the building, I think you could get a separate power meter. That would be the easiest way, have the power company bill you on the same bill.

    Granddaughter’s first flight

I’m embarrassed that she’s 20 months old and this is her first trip! KCCO Newnan Ga to KSOP, Southern Pines NC and back. She met her great grandfather, my wife’s dad and her stepmom. Plus she rode in a convertible the day before we went! My apologies to other grandparents, but I do have the...

    102 pounds

I upgraded the avionics in my old 421, took out the old King Gold Crown remote boxes, I think they weighed 80lbs! The new Garmin stuff added maybe 10 lbs.

    Re-registering expired N number?

I don’t know what they would charge you, but the title companies in OKC are the real experts and can probably get it walked through in a couple days. I lost the registration on the 182 and they were handling the sale on my Conquest, they got my registration and mailed it to me in less than a week.

    Christmas prime rib for dinner

For the last several years I’ve cooked beef at Christmas, depending what’s on sale, either beef tenderloin or standing rib roast. Publix has standing rib roast, deboned with bones tied on for $6.99 lb through Christmas! I’ll pick up two 8-10 lb roasts to cook on the Big Green Egg. We usually...

    Crazy web site price quotes

I do a little real estate and the prices aren’t the results of the “everybody gets a mortgage” policies of the 2000’s, pricing is being driven by demand and low mortgage rates.
