If an aircraft has an expired registration, within 30 days, and it’s sold, can it be legally flown? I just realized my registration has expired, went through the FAA website and it says it will be reviewed in July 2023!!

Jewell Aviation - Kennet, MO - PIREP

I’m looking at two airplanes with John Jewell engines, and this thread scared me, until I figured out the difference!! There is a paint shop in Goderich Ontario called, Sky Harbour, that does excellent work and another shop nearby called Goderich aircraft painting, similar, but not the same!!

    Sales Tax on Purchase

You pay ad valorem tax based on 40% of the value times the county rate, basically a property tax for non-real estate assets. Typically a $100,000 plane would be $3-700 per year, depending on the county it’s based in.

    Plane Flippin' Advice

I would upgrade it to how you want to fly it. You don’t have to spend a fortune on new avionics, buy used if you can. Fly it as is if that works for you!

[NA] Door to door roof replacement sales

We had a guy that I went to high school get arrested a few months ago, for damaging a roof during his free inspection. Not accidental damage, the homeowner saw him ripping up shingles!! Of course he was fired, I think the company actually has a good reputation and didn’t know he was doing this...

Where Will the Price of Avgas Settle?

I filled up both planes last week and my son filled up the boat in Destin. The boat gas was $4.54 X 220 gallons! Avgas totals were 140 gallons at $4.89 average. I figure I saved $1.00 per gallon or more buying last week. I don’t think it will be this low again for along time!

    [NA]Multiple taxation question

I’ve contended for years, that if people had to write a check every month for their taxes, instead of withholding from their paychecks, there would be a revolution!! Most people don’t see it or understand it.

Touch Screen Avionics are frustrating. (Get off my Lawn!)

I just went from a 650/750 set up to a 430/530 set up and I’m ok with either one, but I’m not a huge fan of the 650 or 430 with their smaller screens. But, it’s whatever you get used to using.

Owning a Saratoga with zero time in model and insurance

I have made a habit, good or bad, to renew with the same carrier if they were competitive, 3-10% increase I just stayed with them. Usually they were cheapest, but not always. But, when I’ve had claims, they were good and renewals weren’t an issue.
