    My Airport wedding!

Looks like a great day, and the start of a wonderful life! My bride and I married in our (then) 172 @ 3k over one of the local lakes 13 years ago, with a preacher and my (now) step-son in the back seat. Swapped controls for the vows. It just keeps getting better and better! Jim

EAA Museum (Oshkosh) vs. Air Zoo (Kalamazoo)

Been to all 3. Wright-Pat is several orders of magnitude more interesting than either of the other two. Answering the orignal question, I would go Air Zoo over EAA, especially if you've been to EAA before. Air Zoo is well worth the trip around (or over) the lake. Have fun! Jim PS-...

What's your go-to Concealed Carry weapon?

My off-duty carry for my first few years was a Colt Cobra my dad gave me when he retired. The trigger pressure and throw for the first round of both is about the same. Different strokes.... Nervous is good.... Jim

    PIREPs KEKS (Big Sky, MT)?

Headed for Montana within the next couple weeks. Will base out of Ennis for a few days, doing the touristy thing. Buddy we're meeting there has a daughter who is a guide in Yellowstone, so it should be a cool trip. We'll be in the R182 (non-turbo, but only 2 bodies), and thinking of running...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

The gtn doesn't have to figure out the vertical guidance for an ILS, it's broadcast....the vnav calc is all gtn internal math . ...but I'm telling you things you already know. 'load and activate'....the fltpln, or approach, at departure? If vnav approach you're activating, ain't gonna fly...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

At what point are you activating the approach? There's a limited number of degrees you can be off the extended centerline of the approach, for vnav, when you activate (don't know what is is exactly). If that angle is exceeded, the gtn will throw an error into msgs and the vnav won't grab. You...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

Chatting with my wife (and resident cfii) she recalled we had that problem at first and it was something about when we loaded or engaged the approch. She tried it in the R182 and it worked the same. Sorry not to be more specific...will try to get down there and play with it. Jim

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

Dunno.....we capture glideslope or vnav as apprpropriate, so 'it' works :). Procedural? You'll figure it out, and cheaper than in an airplane. Don't forget the xplane forum.. What software are you using to move the gtn's to your Kindle?...may have to try that! Jim

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

Yup! :) I was too brief.... follow the line, capture the vnav on an approch, and follow the 'missed'...100 percent, which makes sense running the Trainer for source...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

I may not be understanding your question, David (aka fellow linux geek....Our master XP computer is Windows, the other 2 r Linux Mint.) I built a switch panel that talks to the Win computer. Either the buttons on the RXP pop-up screen or my switch panel buttons will control full AP...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

First question...no. 2nd question....yes. XP talks to the moving map on Foreflight on your ipad. No difference from real-world...The ipad uses the Foreflight charts internal to itself. Our charts are up-to-date, so I don't know it reacts if the XP and FF charts are different. 3rd...

xplane vs MSFS for IFR procedures

We have both pieces of software, and have abandoned MSFS. We have the Reality XP gtn 650/750 add-ons for XP and have taught a couple friends the buttonology for their new-to-them rw units...down the basement. We use a small touchscreen, although software is also available to 'port' the screen...

    EAA locked my thread?! Huh!

To quote a great piece of internet philosophy from earlier in the post..."Waaaah!". Sorry, Sac, too good to pass up. ;-) There are two EAA threads...the original one (Web Cams) is still locked. Jim

    C150F N7893F crash near KSQI 7/24/21

I Facetimed with my sis who was on the ramp at KSQI about 11:30 their time yesterday. The temp on the ramp then was 86 and she described the humidity as sauna-like...fwiw. Jim
